| When he first arrived he had to serve a lengthy ban because of offences committed whilst at Wigan. I think Terry owes us a good thumping of someone in our last match if he is leaving. referably an opposition player.

| Quote Bullseye="Bullseye"Hope that the rumours about us going for Obst are wide of the mark.
We need a proven top quality player as our regular dummy half. If Newton is allowed to leave then the replacement must be better or as good. Obst is neither.'"
And who mooted the Obst to Bulls rumour on here first?

| Then maybe we are signing wing as a no 9 and another stand off? That would totally re-define our team for next season. But, seriously, I don't think we should let Newton go, he still has some excellent games.

| I've heard good things about the Barrow hooker, think he's called Andy Ellis. Supposedly the best player outside super league. Think he would be worth a look. If you look at Higham, and Fisher there's a couple of hookers that have made the step up.

Neither is Rinaldi in my books.

And both are garbage.
We've got a hooker in the reserves that is grabbing the headlines, I would sooner see him given a shot to stake his claim that go and sign else.

| Unfortunately getting rid of Terry and signing Obst wouldn't be a surprise, however once again it would be a retrograde step, let's hope we have more ambition. Rinaldi has for the most part looked as good as Terry this last few weeks, so i wouldn't be surprised to see us keep him as a utility and competition with Godwin for the interchange, but I don't see either as a first choice. However if Obst is ever considered a first choice for a team like the Bulls then I would really begin to fear for our future.
I'd have no problem with Terry leaving, I think he's probably past his best, but we need a quality replacement to send out the right message, and as Bullseye points out, hooker is now an absolutely pivotal role.

| As I have said on other threads, Newton leaving wouldn't be a huge blow if the replacement was of the right quality. Newton is still a decent hooker who can throw a decent pass out from dummy half but he is almost static nowadays. He rarely scoots from the PTB and isn't the support player he once was.
Diskin is an interesting name to be thrown into the ring, I'd be surprised if he wasn't looking for a move given his limited game time at Leeds now.

I wouldn't mind Diskin, but if Newton was to go, I think we'd need a signing with a real rugby brain which we have no doubts Newton posesses. I'd sign Newton on a 1 or 2 yr deal, but if we can find somebody better (Obviously not Obst) I wouldn't mind. I agree with the statement that it would be a bad step to sign Obst, it would show we have no ambition.

doubt if newton would settle for enything less than a 2 year deal at this stage of his career. Theres been rumours linking him with a move back to wigan. Would mike mcilorum (sp) at wigan be worth a look? seems to be out of favour a bit but could be a development type prospect.
Personally prefer us to give horton a shot, but we'd probably need to give him a run this year and see how he goes at first team level, as its a bit too much off a risk imo to go into a fresh season depending on a reserve level player to make the step up to a key position. Can't really say I'm too keen on prospect of Wagga as first choice hooker. If we could retain rinaldi and use him as first choice with wagga and horton used in games as appropriate then that might be the way to go. (would also give us some cover in halves with rinaldi).
