It's all a bit different from the usual stance of not announcing anything until it's all done and dusted, I must say.
I guess (or at least seriously hope) the club feel it is 'pretty' certain to go through. There would be too much egg on faces otherwise. Can't imagine they would be playing games to be honest (as in he's already signed, but choosing when to announce it) but you never know. If that is the case though, it may be a bigger name than we think, to justify the trails and general build up. We can but hope!

Exactly. Think people are getting their expectations up way too high. Most of our best imports have been solid players rather than big names.

Have I been asleep or something? What have the club said?

| I don't believe, from what I am lead to believe, that this will be a superstar, more along the lines of a big unit, who will bring some much needed agression to the front line............to be honest, I am not concerned if this is a case of "who?" as long as they deliver what is needed
PS: Congratulations to the club for at least keeping up some communication who we are / aren't interested in, haven't we all been asking the club to up the dialogue. In my opinion, they are starting to do that. Well Done (awaits shooting down from all the doom-mongers)

Or you could just provide us with a name to give us a clue

PS
Couldn't agree more on that bit (in bold) - I was just trying to keep people aware that it won't be a top name player.

| whats interesting is that the T & A headline is "NRL prop star" whereas Hood hasnt mentioned star at all. given Sammuts fed status as mat says is one year (did his contract include an extension clause anybody know and would that be covered?) its most likely to be a stop gap with a solid pedigree. and the "playing overseas" and "playing in the NRL" phrases that are used all the time lead me to believe it is George, because on the Radio Leeds programme they said that the Nandos in Australia were not as good as the Nandos here, and we all know what is most important to our team!!!

Or he could drop down to the Championship

| Don't see why we should top up seniors retirement fund. We've got our centres for next year and don't see that he offers more in 2nd row than players we already have.

| Depends on whether we intend to use Purtell on the wing or at centre I suppose.
We still have Sykes/Platt neither of which I rate as centres good enough for a team aiming for the top 8. Seems a waste of cap space to have them both as squad players. We seem to have quite a few average players capable of playing at centre but not many wing options!

| and Walker. if Kear or Ainscough are injured one of Lulia or Purtell could cover wing with Walker in centre. If both injured...is Crookes still with us?

IMO he would be the best centre we had if we signed him.
