| Shock Wigan fan comes on bulls board to tell us our player is a disgrace but then will probably moan that a bulls fan defends raynor.
Personally I thought it was a badly timed last ditch effort that he got all wrong. I just dont see that intent in raynor. Just trying his hardest. I have no real qualms with the red card. Ganson has always shown it in those situations.
I will say though, in the next few weeks we'll see exactly the same challenge happen and no red card shown. That is why it annoys me. When we need the rub of green we don't get it, especially against big sides. Unfortunate it knocked tomkins out. That effected the decision for me.

He most likely was trying to punch the ball out but got it wrong. My point is that just because it wasn't his intent it doesn't give him an excuse to chin someone.'"
Thank you for clarifying. You and I are in complete agreement.

| I wonder if Phil Clarke thinks that Tomkins has been punished by the 'rugby gods' for his consistent cheating?

Nah, Raynor breaking his wrist on Tomkins head would be an act by the rugby goods... ***rolls eyes***

Potter will be wasting his time, Iestyn had a moan about Heps red against Leeds in the cup game, nothing came of it. When Ganson waved that red card, team bonding went into over drive. I'm glad the Crusaders aren't playing the Bulls next week.

Don't talk wet the spear (sorry dangerous throw) had more intent and more chance of causing serious injury. I admit I was wrong before claiming he milked it, after seeing the replay on local TV he definately caught him on the chin but the only reason Ganson sent him off is because he was knocked out. The high shot on Andy Lynch at Halifax was intentional yet because Lynch wasn't hurt only resulted in a penalty.
To claim it's an act of assualt isn't credible either. There is absolutely no way on earth you can aim a punch at someone in that position whilst moving through the air and connect properly. It's not a dirty act like sliding in with your feet at an attackers head - something golden boy is guilty of.

He didn't chin anyone. He tried to prevent a try being scored. It was an accident. So unless you want all accidental high shots punished by red, then surely it was on report - which you see in every game. But surprisingly, not those refereed by Ganson.

Its a spear tackle if the legs go through the horizontal.... Take a look at it with both eyes....

| Ganson does have form for showing the red, though. Not always against us, even. IIRC did he not red card Fletcher for Hull, a bit harshly, when we played them at the KC a few years ago? And we won the game, probably as a result?
And wasn't it him that red-carded Mozza in the first minute of that international a few years ago?

It's the Steve Ganson show once more.

| It wasn't accidental, it was a deliberate swing to make contact with the player. Accidental would be where he didn't intend to make contact. What we have here is he didn't intend to make contact with the head, but the ball/arm, but did hit the head and it goes down as reckless. Textbook example. IMHO of course.
It wasn't an 8 pointer either, as Tomkins was not fouled whilst touching down the ball, that rule only and strictly applies to "the period during which the ball is touched down for a try". Not before, not after. It's a miracle that Tomkins didn't lose it, and still touched down, but you couldn't correctly say he was fouled "whilst touching down", because he wasn't.
