Oh do us all a favour, will you? Firstly, you (presumably?) know and understand that I don't say you are a wife-beater, but was simply making a satirical point taking advantage of your gaffe admitting that you are a wife-beater, if only in a small way. So what do you find out of order?

In your case, it's necessary to spell things out, because you either don't understand, or feign not to. But anyone with a passable knowledge of English useage understands your phrase to mean you DO have such a record, just one that you consider trivial.
