So I have caught up thanks to the Leigh board which is in complete melt down and will be burn Ryan at the stake later (maybe rightly if his 'demand' is true...)

Personally I don't believe he will be coming to Bradford. To me it seems more of a reaction to him wanting to leave so the mud gets thrown at the blue eyed boy to turn the Leigh fans against him and if you can sling some mud at your championship rivals too then that's a bonus hence Ryan is going to Bradford statement.

I would hope we have done everything above board if we have any hand in this. As much as I think Ryan could potential be the missing key we need I wouldn't want it to cost us everything we have built since Marc green took over.

Don't think brierley is right player for us TBH. Too similar to Gaskell IMO.

But that aside, and not knowing whether there's any truth in Leigh's claims about an approach.

Think the timings interesting. Leigh have had all week to make a statement about Ryan. Yet they've waited until after close of business on Friday to come out with something. So not going to get any response from RFL til tomorrow, Monday probably more likely. And conveniently they waited until after start of Jewish sabbath so unlikely to get a immediate response from Green.

Their also careful to not make a direct claim that Bradford approached Ryan. Instead it's Ryan told us Bradford approached him. So if it isn't true and we took legal action would we have to sue Ryan as the source of the rumour?.

Leigh's statement has Derek's stamp all over it. I have no time for all the "he said", "she said" crap. All as unprofessional as one expects from him. He acts like a nasty child in the playground.

I hope they got their facts right about Bradford before naming them. He could quite easily have said an 'un-named club' had made an approach and passed the info onto the RFL to investigate.

My money would be on Ryan going to Huddersfield anyway.

The only thing on Ryan's Twitter page is a re-tweet from his agent:

I don't take anything that comes out of the Leigh club as gospell. There's more to this than Bradford simply approaching the player.

Both Derek and Koukash appear to think it's all a big game where they can go around doing and saying whatever they want.

I disagree. I don't believe that's a reason to not sign him as at the moment everyone knows Gaskell is our danger man and teams go out of their way to shut him down. Now, if you've two guys like that on the field, which one do you shut down? Can you afford to put an extra guy mark both of them? Because that's going to cause gaps elsewhere on the field.

Plus Brierley's addition will take some of the pressure off Gaskell's shoulders and let him play his more natural game.

All that being said, however, I am still nervous of us signing a half back from a rival club when there's questionable legal issues over his move. After all, that's what started our slide down the table in the first place.

I suspect Gaskell would have to alter his game a little to accommodate a player like Brierley but I think he is capable of taking on a more structured role within the team. Given the lack of scrum halves available I think he would be a good addition and much better than no scrum half or a Siejka. Our side definitely needs another running threat since we lost Mullaney.

Whether he is worth another potential legal battle is debatable though, so I'd hope we check very carefully before offering him a deal once he is 'a free agent'.

Still, I'd be surprised if we managed to land him over SL clubs that are apparently circling.
