Sorry but as a Wakey fan this stinks:
"The Rugby Football League has promised to advance him the £200,000 needed for the players' wages..."They have said they will let us have the money if it is directed towards wages," he told a meeting of 500 Bradford fans on Monday.

As far as I am aware, we had no financial support from the RFL and players were sold on for stupidly low sums of money!

| Quote 18th Man="18th Man"I know it's no use now but many Wakey fans (speaking from experience) were suggesting along those lines when you were pledging all your cash, you could have had £500,000 in a pot now ready to invest in the new club!
Has anyone actually said what's happened to that £500,000?'"

| The RFL are up shiite creek if Bradford can't fulfill their fixtures as Leeds have to play them 3 times....would make the league positions a total farce.............
So who is going to pay back the £200k advance ....

You state in that link that
Quote MDF="MDF"
Let's be generous and say that we raised a couple of hundred thousand (of which there was not a chance IMO). It wouldn't even have paid a month's wages. Even 500K would have been utterly inadequate to take the club forward.'"
I don't get why you so clearly state my original post was wrong Surely £200,000 in a supporters trust now would be better than the £500,000 wasted from the pledges?

| If we'd wanted to go bust with two weeks notice in April then that's totally what should have happened. We didn't. Given the extent to which you lucked out you're not the last word on how to deal with your club being in danger.

Up the creek indeed.
If the Bulls fail to fulfill all their fixtures they can't just expunge their record because, as you rightly say we play one club three times. So, to keep the competition even, they would also have to expunge all the Magic Weekend results. Not sure what value they would place on the bad publicity from telling everyone that MM was total non-event but I suggest it would be a bit more than the figure they intend to loan (not give, incidentally). Not that the money would guarantee anything anyway, as it stands.

I have to agree with you. Think the reason the RFL have done it is because they will have a major problem if Bradford go down.

so for the Bulls to survive they need at least £200k instantly (loan from RFL), then need backers to buy club with enough wonga to keep HMRC happy circa £500k+...as HMRC wont accept a CVA as seen with other sporting clubs. So club folds, newco takes over asap but has no debt to HMRC or RFL £200k loan.......no paddle and approaching waterfall rapidly

What they would have to do is to give all clubs two points from their Bradford fixtures, so Leeds would get six, and the rest four.
I honestly hope that it doesn't come to that even if it benefits us (Wigan).
