I agree with you there. But George is not representing Labour. I think it is an indication that Labour are unelectable with Ed in charge, however, when they should be destroying the coalition.

I think every politician is electable somewhere - just look at the result from last night...

'Gorgeous George' is a big name though, and controversial as he is, he comes with a big profile and big publicity (not to mention big ego), and [iif[/i in the process of helping himself he pushes for the things which help his constituency and maybe the city in general, it may be a blessing in disguise. Big little word is 'if', of course.

Doesnt the constituency get completely re-shaped in 2015 with lots of Conservative voters from Shipley joining? He'll be off looking for somewhere else then. He'll certainly be colourful and high profile, whether he'll actually do anything for his constituents remains to be seen.

Even though i wouldn't have voted for him it will certainly make politics more interesting in these parts, which might not be a bad thing.

A point I was going to make too. The electorate may lose their collective nerve in general elections, but we do have 3 Green Party councillors!

Which is what I was thinking. He does have a way of attracting publicity and there are plenty of occasions where that doesn't go amiss.
