If they were charging a fiver for that, people would go regardless of the event itself!

The POY is usually just a fan event with no meal or dress code.
It's usually a fiver or thereabouts so that's why I thought it might be a typo.

Except the bit that says "The evening will be a Black Tie event and will include a three course meal with Bulls Player/s joining you at your Table" two paragraphs above the price.

TBH i think this perfectly illustrates the clubs feelings to the general fan by making such a highly popular event in the past so expensive to attend.

Leeds player of the year dinners have always been expensive, black tie events. Then again, we've always had a little bit more panache at Leeds.

Maybe the black tie is to mark what will no doubt be a sombre occasion?

Either that or perhaps they know that many won't turn out due to the incredibly poor season and to save embarrassment they've decided to turn it into an 'exclusive' event?

Well I detest black tie functions with a passion - spent all my working life in a bloody suit so I hate getting dressed up in my own time, and will only go when forced so this one is not for me. Think I've managed to escape with only about four in last twelve months - although at one of them David Cameron was the main guest speaker, and I've only just recovered...

Or they are worried that the general fans might turn hostile after the the rubbish we've been subject to this season and this is a way of keeping numbers down.

I've been to numerous black tie/sportsmans dinners. Generally the guests know bugger all about the team, but they like to be seen there, like to bid outrageous amounts for sports bling, usually signed by a boxer. I used to work with a lad at Bradford who is black & into men's health (steady AP). He was forever getting guests coming up to shake his hand at such functions, even though he's never played any RL.
