| There was never going to be £15m from the council, they ain't got a pot to pee in.
I'd offer stadium naming rights for the next 50 years for the sponsor who can fund some covers for the terracing and a few new bogs. That's all we need.

| I like the way that the Councillor gets in the part that we need 2 special need schools and they take priority (and rightly so).
It's as though its £15m towards the Sporting Village or £15m towards two special needs schools and its the last £15m they have and it's one or the other!
I read at the weekend that there are possible planned closures of Manningham swimming baths amongst other things, so your point that the council are not investing in other sporting facilities also rings true.
Wonder if Connor will do a piece from the Bulls perspective on this....

| Well they are seeking to blame the government for the "cut", saying the funding to rebuild two special schools was cut so they need it for that instead. Smoke and mirrors and disingenuous comment we expect from our elected representatives, but I would be even more disappointed than normal if there were downright lies in what has been said.
I regard most local politicians as lying scheming partisan self-serving toerags at the best of times, and I suspect there will be nothing in the spin on these developments that does anything to persuade me otherwise.
Hands up though all those who ever really expected the scheme - or indeed anything much else in this city - to go ahead?

Everyone's hands in Bradford have just gone through the floor.

| I thought the £15m was to build facilities that would replace the ageing Richard Dunn's centre across the way?
The rest of the money, including funding for the new stadium would be coming from other sources?
I just hope that should the club find an alternative revenue for the project that the council don't drag their feet over allowing planning permission.

| Bradford once had three professional footballing sides and soon may have none, but this is no concern of the Council obviously.

| Just got home from the ongoing riot in City Square demanding two new special needs schools. There really is 'massive pressure' down there.
Sorry but even if the choice between the sporting village and new special schools wasn't erroneous (and it is) the priority for all councils in a recession should be to support projects which have the potential to raise the profile of the city and attract inward investment. The further the city goes into economic decline the smaller the overall take in business rates, council tax etc. Suggesting these funds come from the private sector when confidence in the city among the business community is at an all time low is just silly.
It's not only short sighted but one feels a little spiteful.

| no great surprise really. Bet the city lot go quiet abiut a groundshare now there isnt the prospect of the 15 million being used to buy back VP (which was always there only interest if we're honest). Need club to make an announcement as to their plan B now (although as adey says the 15 million was never for the stadium part of scheme anyway, so whatever plans we have for the stadium portion are probably in the same state as before the 15 million was pulled. Just means we can concentrate on providing just the facilities bulls need and forget all the other aspects of scheme)

As far as I can tell there are three reasons why the T&A turns off comments on newly published articles:
1) Someone has been murdered or raped.
2) They think they'll be deluged with the barely restrained racism of most of the people who comment on there.
3) Everything in the article is a crock of .
Surprised it's taken this long to be dropped though tbh.

| Can't say I'm surprised and not surprised to see the T&A making sure their buddies in the Council get to look as good as possible in the process.
So I wonder what plan B is?

| Now they're largely made up of people swallowing the T&A line that it was £15m for the Bulls.

I agree with this, especially the bit about plan B. The club have always said there is a plan B...well, we might as well get on with plan B and announce what it is. (assuming we do have one of course)
I think its fairly clear to all the OSV has been dead in the water for a long time, I think it would help to officially kill it so we can move on to plan B or C, or D.....etc.
