Valley Parade has been the only home of Bradford City, and the fact that 56 fans died there 24 years ago means that it is much more than an address or a stadium; it is a living memorial to those who died on 11/05/85.
'"
I do understand what you are saying about Valley Parade, but it makes far more sense to develop Odsal into a really great stadium and share between both of the cities proffessional sporting teams.
There could always be a memorial built to the tragedy that occurred up at Valley Parade, to be erected on the site once it is developed.

| im a season ticket holder at city and the bulls and i would prefer the bulls to move to VP. it would cost the council a lot less money to buy back VP from gorden gibb then it would to completly redevelop odsal.
i also lost a good friend on the 11th of may 1985 and a lot of people lost family members so to see VP demolished and turned into flats or somthing would be a disgrace in my opinion and somebody earlier in the thread said theres no room to expand VP can you really see either the bulls or city ever needing more than 25,000 capacity?

No I can't I'd agree with that, and VP's 25,000 capacity is more than the proposed capacity for the OSV I believe.

| Quote AndreaB="AndreaB"97% of people surveyed at games at VP did not want the Bulls to remain there. More than half said they would go to no games or to fewer games if the move were made permanent.
A permanent move to VP would be a disaster for the Bulls.
For one stadium for everyone there is far more potential at Odsal than at VP which has no room for expansion and too little parking even for the small crowds there will be.'"
But how many would say that if there wasn't the option to return to Odsal? If it was VP or the team leaves Bradford?

Its not that kind of expansion
if the counsil Bought VP and the bulls moved in there what would they have , 1 slightly run down stadia with very little else
if they go down the OSV route they end up with 1 new stadia and all-weather floodlit pitches for cricket and soccer, an athletics track, tennis courts and an Olympic-scale swimming venue - together with a range of other health, sports and leisure facilities including a 3,500 person indoor arena, and plenty of parking.
Thats the expansion, not the number of people you can get in. to turn VP in the Bradford's sporting centre would mean knocking down alot houses and a virtually impossible job of getting fast road connections.

| Whilst I can appreciate City fans being sceptical of the OSV ever happening, I cannot really understand why some appear so against it. Bradford has very little going for it right now, but OSV would give something for all Bradfordians to be proud of. I'd love to see the two clubs join forces and grow stronger together in a stadium that delivered superb facilities. I'd be absolutely in favour of branding the OSV 50/50 because this Stadium should be something for the whole City.
An OSV would be the new home of Sport in Bradford, not just the Bulls. I just pray the Council and all parties involved can actually make it happen in these difficult times.

| I don't think VP is a viable option for the Bulls, that said I wouldn't be hugely unhappy if we ended up there.
The SV makes the most sense for all parties concerned, economically and socially speaking.
Many fans (from both clubs) will probably say they're against a move, in reality though, how many will actually STOP going? A small percentage in the medium to long term I would estimate.
At the end of the day, we all want to see our clubs performing to the highest level, I don't think people would mind where that is.
A superleague winning side at VP v's a NL2 side at Odsal? I know where I'd rather be.
A big stumbling block is the emotional tie to VP for City fans, the few I know haven't got an issue with moving, but I accept there will be some with strong feelings attached to VP.
I think as suggested a memorial, naming of a stand, the indoor arena, or whatever would be a good starting point.

| Looking at OSV, I just think it won't happen. Bradford Council in my opinion never have and never will be bothered about the Bulls or City. How the OSV has slowly progressed so far does not feel me with much confidence. In Bradford if something is not planned & built straight away it won't happen, e.g. Broadway, Previous Odsal Schemes, etc. Like many other Bulls' fans it really annoys me with the excellent location Odsal has it just seems destine to be never be developed. Unless a massive injection of cash is given to the Bulls, VP is the only option. I'd rather see the Bulls go to VP on our terms rather than in few years be forced down to VP when OSV has failed and the Bulls cannot afford Odsal, which knowing the Bulls luck it will & see the Bulls under the thumb of City which I don't want to happen, e.g. Wigan. Bulls need a modern stadium now not 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10+ years time. Its embarrassing when 'lower' clubs like Doncaster, Leigh, to name a few have new stadiums now. Like 'Wigan Bull' stated do we have top flight rugby at VP or play lower level rugby at a run down Odsal because its 'where the Bulls should be' which would echoe from a lot of older Bulls/Northern fans.
