Pollsters doing Excellent job - say recent polls.: |
|
| Regarding the "relevant income" part - I asked this question a week or 2 ago.
Buy Bulls came about as we are allowed to spend half of our "relevant income" on player salaries. So obviously they're pushing that angle. At the time the chairman listed tickets, merchandising, social events, bar takings as "relevant income", but he didn't mention sponsorship or central funding (TV money).
As those 2 income streams bring in a huge slice of our income, is it correct that they don't count?

| As far as I understand it central funding and TV money does count, though on shop and bar takings etc [less vat, of course] it is only 50% of [iprofits[/i not turnover, Mr Green's suggestion of a £40 sale in the shop equating to £20 more to spend on the team wouldn't be, well, an exact representation of the reality. Unless we get the goods for nothing and operate in the Cayman Islands....

| He'll be a good signing for Workington. Probably played his best rugby when at the Bulls but unfortunately not as consistent as we would always have liked. He'd probably have done a decent job for us too but we've seemingly decided he isn't for us. I'd probably agree that he isn't the ideal fit to play alongside Gaskell though.
Who is left on the old rumours for us to cling onto then, just Godinet left without a club?

Don't think he'll be an option, he chose not to sign on at Wakefield rather than wasn't offered a contract apparently. If he's not up for super league I can't see him being interested in the championship. I've no idea who else of any quality is available though. Is Briggs still contracted to Sheffield? Didn't get much opportunity the first time around but could do alright for us... I wait to be shot down!

| Like I said previously, Sammut met with Lowes to discuss options. Unfortunately Green and Ferres are only prepared to pay so much (sensible business acumen) hence Lowes having to let Sammut down.

There, edited for accuracy

| I think we're done with regards to signing halfbacks. For now, at least.
If Jacks is a decent signing then great. Siejka didn't really have much impact at all last season so at least Rhys has the good fortune of not really having much to live up to in terms of replacing last year's 7.
What concerns me slightly is the fact that he's 25 and was still only playing part time before we signed him. You would think that if he was a good player, he would have been given a shot by an aussie club by now. But then again I don't know his back story, so perhaps he did get a chance and it didn't work out, who knows.
But we now have Gaskell, Jacks, Thomas, Addy and (shudder) Purtell who can all play in the halves if need be. Hopefully we don't need to call on all of them next season but the cover is certainly there now.

| Only thing I would say is that we still don't have a visa for Jacks so he is very much just on trial with us for now. I think we'd all of been a little more comfortable with having a punt on Jacks if we hadn't lost Mullaney as well, that is a loss if he isn't replaced with a SL quality player.

Been rumoured to be going back to Fev, but I haven't seen anything official. Fev announced their squad numbers a while back and he wasn't listed, but they did leave the number 6 shirt free, so perhaps he's lined up for that.
