Both Pryce's and now feilden is alleged to have turned down a one yr offer, with us and hull in the frame

| I think it's a very good signing, young, fast and scores tries for fun. Ok he needs to work on his defence, but which young players don't. Iam sure Mick Potter will get the best out of him.

He is already an improvement on Reardon then as this year he was neither young (in the rugby league sense) nor fast and he certainly didn't score tries for fun. He surely can't do much worse then Reardon did in defence either and at least has time in his side to be able to improve.
An improvement to the overall make up of the squad in my opinion.
However this is all assuming Reardon is off which seems to have been mentioned a few times on some of the other threads!

based on relatively limited amount I've seen ainscough, I'd say better than reardon (or at least reardon we've seen this year), better than halley as has similar pace but has a bigger physical build so harder to stop which has always been main critiscm of halley. probably on a par with sheriffe defensively, although a slightly better finisher. havent seen enough of finnigan to compare.
couple of wigan fans I spoke to over weekend were pretty gutted to be losing him if thats anything to go by.

| Isnt he classed as a flyer?
If so, he is one up on most of our wingers in the SL era for a start. We havent had many players who could go the length of the field like Broughton did from Salford the other week from a broken field situation

who's to say we wont use finigan on other wing? not definite that we're retaining sheriffe or that halley will get a 1st team spot. I'd be pretty happy with finnigan, halley, meli and ainscough competing for the 2 wing spots. certainly a healthier position than we're in now.

If we sign Meli he'll take up one wing spot.
Thwe others will be competing for the opposite one and imo (atm anyway) Finigan would be at the bottom of that list (even though I tihnk he could kick on and become a better winger than either of Ainscough or Halley.

thats assuming ally 4 are fit. also I wouldnt necessarily think finnigan would automatically be bottom of list either. all 3 have something to prove and a clean sheet with potter. And there would be opportunities for halley and finnigan at FB as kearney misses a few through injury.
I'd rather have one decent winger and 3 decent young prospects competing than have no squad depth through worrying about blocking progress of our youth products. If they are good enough then they will force their way into team anyway, or at least thats impression I've got of potters coaching methods.

| Young player with a bit of a point to prove and some obvious strengths and some weaknesses to work on. If he is arriving with the right attitude then I see no reason why he won't improve under Mick Potter.
As I said on another thread he will be relatively low cost and I reckon he can only get better. If he doesn't make the grade then we won't have lost much, if he does we might have a bargain. I see this as a positive piece of business.

Spot on, good bit of business if true.
