I can't believe he's coming here for a second but he is reported as off contract and Melbourne have re-signed Hoffman and others. He's not been the same since he broke his leg apparently.

Its not Shillington either according to Hood, but no other clues about who it actually is, hes keeping quiet other than to reiterate it could be a done deal this week.

TBF dont think Shillington was ever a realistic option. In current financial climate you arent going to get current test players coming to play in lower half of SL ( and I doubt even the top clubs could get him over here TBH). Really dont think it will be a major name as such. Best we can hope for is a regular NRL prop, preferably mid twenties, that adds something to our pack and we can build round. Thing to remember is that unless we only give this guy a one year deal then this is going to be our last overseas signing for at least two years given contract lengths already given to out quota players. If this guy does get longer than a year then Sammut knows hes looking for another club for 2013 before he plays a game for us as we wont have quota space to accomodate him. That could work either way, it could motivate him to put himself in shop window or he could treat it as a year off, down to Potter to get best out of him in that situation.

He doesn't need to be a star. He just needs to be a solid player.

He won't be a current international I'm sure.

This is the 2nd day running the club have run with essentially the same story about signing an NRL prop so I think they're aware of not just how important a signing it is for our chances next season but just how crucial the fan base see it. I'd say this is the most important signing we've made since Matt Orford and the way the club are trailering it suggests so too.

Hope the end result is worth it.
