| Well we couldn't just carry on like this so good to see a decision made.
JK was just the man we needed after the chaos of 2017 under Toovey when we needed an experienced man in charge that knew the leagues.
Now we need to appoint someone that can motivate and improve the existing squad who are capable of much better.

| Actually surprised he's gone after last night's performance (I wouldn't have been surprised if he went last week though)
Kear didn't sound like someone who thought he was on his way out.
Echo the comments above. He steadied a fast sinking ship. There were some great highs, but as with a lot of coaches who've been at a club a while, a small rot started to set in at the Widnes game at the end of last year and has carried on this year.
Big decision coming up for the board.

| I'm not sure how many were in the ground last night but it didn't look good on the telly. I think JK was past the point of winning over the supporter base due to the style of rugby that he coached and some of the results in the last year or so. The club have obviously recognised that the fans have had enough and a change was needed sooner rather than later.
It will be interesting to see who they can attract and appoint.

| As suspected, when we put out the press statement of having every faith we could turn it around, we were just following the niceties of sacking someone in sport.
Nigel "I'm sacking John tonight"
Someone "You can't do that, you need to put out the supportive statement first".

| I didn’t think that was coming…… yet.
Obviously the right time for a change, will be interesting to see the quality of applicant that we get.

| As others have said, we owe him our gratitude for coming in and steadying the ship when we were an utter shambles. But it seemed like - as with all coaches and managers - his tenure had run its course.
Massive decision coming up now and the level of the appointment will tell us plenty about the ambition of the club.
I think a younger, hungry coach who can grow with the club might be good after having an elder statesmen type for a few years.
I'd like to see Nigel Wood come out now and tell us what his plans are for the club. Are we going to be content to bumble along in the middle of the Championship? Or are we seriously looking to get back into SL? Because where we are now is a million miles off. As always it will come to down to money/investment. The millstone of Odsal is all part of that mix.
I doubt Wood will say anything but the appointment will speak volumes
What we don't want is a new coach coming in with all the platitudes and waffle about how we "deserve to be in SL", "a sleeping giant" " aiming for Super League" - but then nothing much changes apart from the name of the coach's door

| I don't see the club moving out of the Championship whilst Leigh and Fev are throwing big sums at it. We are miles away from what they can spend and we cannot keep hold of good young players to build a side longer term.
Not sure where that leaves our ambitions to be honest. Even with the return of licensing there are clubs better placed than us.

| Just changing from 'We deserve Super League' to 'coming top of the Ch is priority' would be refreshing for me.

To be fair we could have beaten both sides this season. Fev were there for the taking last night and we were close to beating Leigh (albeit in the Cup). At the moment neither side are playing as well as they can. Difference is, both of them could easily go up a gear.
What we need is a coach who will play to our strengths. And that’s throwing the ball around a bit. When we do that, we look great! My concern is the forward pack. We hardly win a ruck and always seem to get slow PTB.
I’d honestly settle for a coach to come in and just say, the playoffs are the bare minimum, then we’ll see what we can do then. Recruit well in the off-season, and hopefully improve our position. Anything can happen in playoff rugby. We need to build a side that’s consistent over the year, and can give the top two a close run. We aren’t far off that. Just need so bloody forwards.

The problem is that next season there'll still be whichever of Leigh and Fev don't go up, plus the team that comes down. And that will be the same every year (unless SL expands to 14 clubs)
To be honest, we can't even match York and Halifax for spending.
It's the old problem - lack of investment. That's why I'd like Wood to come out now and tell us his intentions for the club. At least we'd know where we stand, rather than this vague "building towards Super League" when, in reality, we aren't really.

| After the interview JK gave last night, the writing was on the wall I'm afraid.
Yes, it was a much better performance than against Fax and Barrow, but to say you were happy with it, when the game was there for the taking shows how far apart coach and fans are.
My take on last was there was no lack of effort, but team selection was wrong. Too many injured players were risked (again) resulting in more lengthy absences. Why are we playing people who are injured or out of position when we have some decent kids in the reserves who deserve a chance. We have three out at Cornwall, yet we play the same old line up playing on half a tank and one leg!!!!
Time for a change well over due and hopefully someone can now come in, assess the squad and cut out the dead wood. We need a young hungry team ready to prove their worth.

I wondered how long it would be before he got suggested
I don't know if the club are inviting applications - it would be interesting to see if he throws his hat into the ring if we do. It didn't exactly end well for him when he had his second playing spell with us did it?
I think Chev Walker is an interesting possibility. Seems to be well-regarded at the Rhinos and could find himself edged out if Rohan Smith wants to have his own people as assistants.
