| Quote: Adeybull "Setting up this proposed sponsorship activity will mean setting up an agreement, an organisation and a structure through which to channel it, including IMO a bank account. IMO you really do NOT want to be using an individual's private bank account for this purpose, for all sorts of reasons I won't bore people with on here.
There is of course the alternative of using an existing, if dormant, vehicle for doing this. You COULD reactivate BISA, primarily for this purpose. This would probably save a load or reinventing the wheel, taking advantage of a shedload of work that the initial committee did. You could not just use the bank account in isolation.
If you DID want to pursue this alternative, there would be some practical issues to address - not least that you'd need to revive BISA as an entity first, and appoint a new committee. And new signatories and a new bank mandate (that might itself be less easy than it sounds). And you would have to work on the prudent assumption that the bank would need to be happy that the new committee was legitimate and empowered, and that the activities were consistent with the BISA constitution.
These were the objects for which BISA was founded, as set out in its constitution (guess who wrote most of that...)
2.1 To work together as members with all other interested parties and partners to support Bradford Bulls RLFC (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Bulls’) and Rugby League clubs in the Bradford district and do everything possible to help them to remain highly successful Rugby League teams
2.2 To establish and maintain meaningful dialogue and communication with the Directors and Management of the Bulls and other interested parties to work together to further BISA’s objectives
2.3 To present the media with intelligent informed and reliable sources of comment and information on issues affecting Rugby League, the Bulls and BISA members
2.4 To establish and maintain high quality services and communications with and for BISA members and to foster links with other like-minded supporters of Professional Rugby League Clubs
My initial take (a friendly lawyer or, that usually being an oxymoron, else even a 'Vark, could confirm?
IMO this exactly what we want to avoid - unless someone/s are prepared to do the leg work. Personally I'm happy just send Wiggy a cheque & leave it to him. I have paypal as well if that's easier.

| Yes, sounds like using that account is hassle. Just PM details and I'll make payment however you want it (within reason )

I would not want to do it - as with Sam, served my time and learned the hard way!
As I said, I was reluctant to raise the possibility, but did in response to the question. As I said to WB in PM, there MAY be circumstances where having something already in place as a vehicle to co-ordinate might be easier. Don't think anyone would suggest resurrecting a full-blown ISA, but the guy asked about the bank account and I explained what IMO would be needed to use it.
There are some funds still in the account, which if not used for an original purpose of BISA will have to be sent to a local RL charity.
Depends on whether this sponsorship proposal stays modest (as now) or grows somewhat, I guess. However its done, there will be some co-ordination and agreement required, and maybe the odd decision or two - like IIRC sponsors of players get some privileges: how would they be dealt with?

| I reckon the neatest way is cheques to the organiser, but made payable to Bradford Bulls. (So the Bulls get a pile of individual cheques, and the organiser doesn't need to "handle" money).
Those who prefer to use the PayPal route could transfer their funds to a like-minded person with a PayPal account as a purely personal and private business, and trust that person to in turn write a single cheque for the total contributions they have collected.
This way it is as easy as anyone wants it to be, and nothing has to be foirmalised or set up. Mr. paypalaccountholder could of course abscond with the money but we have agents worldwide and would find him.
I am firmly of the view that we decide on a total and then everyone contributes equally. Anyone with any surplus funds they want to give to the club there are a legion ways to do that. Given the numbers so far signed up, then just for example if we say £17.27 each that's £500+VAT.

| Could we add a Poll to the thread - what's the MAX you would contribute? And go with whatever figure works out closest to the lowest voted?

Good idea . . .. [ibut [/iwhat's to stop some (filth - choose what team you prefer. I have one in particular in mind ) fans from other clubs hijacking it and causing the cracking idea "issues" by cranking the cost up et al.
How about everyone on the list simply posts their preferred amount on this thread - or if people don't feel comfortable with that use PM.
Good idea over selecting figure to work with, imho, FA.

| Yep, I'm with a few others in that it needs to be simple, other wise it will potentially scare people off.
Certainly with the distance, work, a young family, amoungst other things, anything more than we are talking about start to become difficult.
I propose:
-Player chosen by poll (of available players)
-Work out the cost per person
-Cheques sent to me payable to "Bradford Bulls"
-I send them all off and coordinate this with the club
-For 2011, the existing sponsors confirm if they are in or out and any new people are offered to join.
- A new cost is calculated and the same process carried out.
With regard to benefits, I've asked the club if we can exchange them for something we all benefit from e.g. a game in the coral stand.

| I've been thinking about the player we should sponsor and why. Here are a few ideas:
1. Paul Deacon - for irony and humour reasons only
2. Up and comers have been mentioned - someone like Whitehead or Donaldson
3. The player least likely to get sponsored - that means we're more likely to be helping the club
4. The top scorers - then we get mentioned all the time - see above or whoever we think will bag most tries - probs Beaver at the moment
5. Bradfordian only rule - Halley, Koppy, Whitehead etc
What do you think?

| Well with the amount of people agreeing to contribute we should easily cover the cost with say a set amount of £25?
If we raise more than the amount needed then that just goes to the club for them to use as they see fit. Perhaps scoreboard repairs?

| Count me in too.
Also, if there is a genuine resurrection of the supporters assocation then please count me in for that as well - more than happy to commit time and money.

| I think you will find that to sponsor any of the existing players will be near on impossible, The best bet will be one of the new players or any of the newly promoted juniors.
