| Reported in Hull Daily Mail Ryan Shaw on point of reaching contract with Hull KR . Great shame to loose him.

| Is he any good? Seem to remember him struggling a little with our kicking game at your place in the challenge cup

CC was apparently impressed with him in that match.

| Would it be fair to say his goal kicking is the best part of his game, which is actually very good

| He played reasonably well at full back, improved as the season went on and kicked goals for fun.
He was awful on the wing but in truth I couldn't tell you why Clare and Mendeika are in front of him for the FB shirt.

| Shaw has looked decentto me, if raw, and defending naively at times. Just the sort of player I'd be looking to keep as I reckon he's got a lot of potential, and can kick too. Says a lot when a decent SL side with plenty of existing pace sees it, but we don't. But then, if you look in our wardrobe (where they must surely be, as they're never seen) you'll find a dozen players that we've signed but then presumably dual registered with Narnia, never to return.

| With the long term deals of Mendieka and Claire along with the new deal for Caro, it was Lways on the cards that any back only on a 1 year deal might not be here next year. Shaw is still young and with time to work on the faults in his game he could become a decent full back

| This might sound harsh, but I think the championship is his level.
He's a fantastic goal kicker, but his actual on field play isn't really up to scratch. He's not great defensively and is terrible on the wing positionally.
I'm also not convinced he fully knows the rules of the sport - on more than one occasion towards the back end of the season he gave away scrum feeds within our own 10 by putting his foot in touch when gathering a kick. I can only assume he thought the rule regarding doing this on the dead ball line applied to the touchline as well.
I think Clare is a better (makeshift) fullback, but not Mendieka. I think if Mendieka comes into our side at all, it should be at centre and not fullback.

I'd have Clare ahead of him everyday of the week. Some of the things Clare did against Salford, Shaw isn't good enough to do. Setting up Williams try, intercepting when Salford had a 2 on 1, and then the try saving tackle right at the end. Ryan Shaw wouldn't have been able to do any of them. He's a solid player who can do a decent job across the back line. Given choice i would keep him, but he's certainly not worth spending big on.
Someone asked why an SL side rate him and we don't? KR have an extra £800k to spend than us. We have to be more careful with our money. KR could spend £70k on him, he could flop, but they still have £1.7millon worth of talent to choose from. We spend £70k, that's nearly a tenth of our SC gone.

| Ryan is a great goal-kicker but hasn't been good enough defensively even at Championship level. Perhaps Rovers will correct that but we simply can't afford the cap space if he doesn't improve that much, whereas they can.

| To be fair he is a good young talent,
However if Hull want him sell him on at a profit, by a better starting full back and move forward..
If we make money of the back of the deal its good business,
Don't however sell him and don't replace him or sell him and replace with some utter garbage in true bulls fashion.

I point you to the rest of our crazy coaching decisions this year, he had a stinker at Widnes so was dropped due to that im hazarding a guess at but Mendeika was 10x worse against HKR dont think he caught a ball all game.
Shaw did seem to do ok in the air, but clares and mendeikas support play is alot better than his.

Best ask Jimmy on that one. Clare had a poor game against Widnes [along with everyone else] why he was the sacrificial lamb and why Mendeika replaced him is something only he can answer.

Mendeika looked well out of his depth at this level
