How do we feel Marc Green has measured up? I think the last couple of weeks tells a story, our biggest 2 rivals strengthen their squads for the run in, we can't retain a player who can't get a game with the Giants. If there's another plan other than running the club to recover his cash, he's hiding it very well in my view. Hopefully we have the cavalry lined up to ride to the rescue IF we get at least 4 points back, but........ Comments

I thought he came across very well in the build up to our CC game.
Honestly, regarding the signings, I'm not sure what else the club can do. They offered Kaufusi an extended deal, which Hudds were happy with, and he chose to go back to his parent club.
He's not in their squad this week, so he won't be playing a game for anybody. You can read what you want into his attitude from that.

Do I think Marc is only in it to get his money back? Who knows.
Honestly, right now I just want this season to be over. We just lurch from one pasting to another and every week seems to carry another bad news story.

The sooner we know our fate for 2015 onwards the better imo. If we're going down, best to know about it with plenty of time to spare so that we can do our best to gather some kind of competitive championship squad.

Personally I don't think he's just in it to recoup his cash. Realty is, as frustrating as it is, we've probably had to make massive cuts across the board and can't afford massive signings. Would you trust Cummins at this moment to spend money on a player. Surprised we've not seen Fakir on wing yet.

On a slightly different note, it has been good to see the corporate boxes busier on match days.

Fair point about trusting FC to spend cash, but doesn't that reinforce the point! Surely such strong rugby characters as Robbie & Ferres are highlighting the coach is the root cause of the problem in terms of having a team busting a gut every game. If that was the case but we were being beaten by a more skillful size, we'd all accept it, but we're far from that

Agreed. Reason I don't think we will win on Sunday isn't skill wise (Salford have been awful) but because I don't believe we're ready for a fight. It's almost like we're not afraid to lose. We just go out, play and if see if we win. Then look at Castleford attitude. They played like losing was the end for them. Apart from Websters pass, Castleford won't blowing anyone away skill wise, but the commitment from everyone of them players was too much for Wigan.

If somebody would advance an at least semiplausible way in which Green could "get his cash back" out of our operation then I'd be prepared to consider it. Bear in mind this is the club where our last investor "got back" minus £1 million in what, just over 1 year?

As things stand, it is down on my list of Things I Would Be Prepared To Consider As A Possibility somewhere between Alien Abductions and Me Buying A Justin Bieber record

The trouble is, as it stands, we're relegated and we've folded twice in as many years. Which player is going to sensibly throw in with us? And the club, it seems, may have learnt from the past in not throwing huge contracts at players.

If we get the 6 points back, then we might look more appealing a club to join. But as it stands we're not

Appealing or not, Kaufusi fancied being 19th man above staying with us, our long term plan isn't that relevant to him as he is contracted to Giants for further 1 yr as I understand

P&R has certainly added to the excitement & interest. But already you can see clubs potentially bankrupting themselves. I have no idea of Green's ambitions or intentions, but throwing money around like Koucash is not sustainable.

Has it really added interest? Crowds are down. Mood is bleak. I'm less interested in the 1st team. How many more games have you actually paid to go and see since p & r came back?

As far as I can see, the only interest in who's getting relegated is coming from teams to whom relegation is not an issue

If there wasn't P&R there would have been several hundred less posts on here, the Whinging Wakey board or VT, & less letters of threatened hari kari in the press. The 6 points would be irrelevant in that context. Wakey & Salford wouldn't be in the market. Fev wouldn't be buying SL players, arguably Leigh wouldn't be the force they are now nor put up the performance they did against Leeds. I don't buy the argument P&R apologists gave that it would automatically increase attendances, though it undoubtedly will if there are do or die games at the end of the season.

Scenario 1: He doesn’t buy the club and instantly loses £200k.

Scenario 2: He buys the club for a minimal amount from the administrator. Doesn’t pay any creditors so the club starts again with zero debt. Massively cuts costs. Doesn’t put in a single penny to recruit new players. Slowly pays back the £200k to his company in monthly instalments using sky money. Club gets relegated because he doesn't buy new players, but is competitive in SL2. After loan repayments are complete he sells the club to someone like Mrs Koucash for the minimal amount he paid.

Semi plausible???

I doubt the general loss of gate money, shown by disillusioned fans not turning up for most of the season, is going to be turned round by a one or two games at the fag end of the season. The relegations on offer [there [iis[/i no promotion on offer this season anyway and I neither do I think the new system is likely to produce any] only effect the bottom clubs anyway; the rest have no real interest.
