TBH honest it's a gamble their better placed to take than us. If he's constantly injured they have the depth to cover it. If he stays fit its a good signing. If we got him and he was injured it would be a disaster as we don't have the cover. Better spending same money on a couple of young hungry props, who probably aren't as good now but have potential. Given all players being released from clubs u21s system at moment there must be some about we can pick up.

| Fielden is No more injured than nick Scruton!
What a waste of bulls money hes been these last 2 seasons. Thought those in the know said stu fielden was wanting to play for bulls again?
What a ferocious pack the giants will have next season

| Really?.
Stuart fielden 2011 1 appearance 2012 1 appearance
Nick scruton 2011 14 appearances 2012 6 appearances
Pretty obvious which one has been more injury prone over last couple of years I'd say.

| I'm surprised he's ended up a Huddersfield, but I guess the Paul Anderson connection helped.
It would be interesting to know if we made a serious move for him. Nothing has been said officially so far as I recall, it all just seemed to be speculation from us supporters based on the historical connection.
And its all very well saying we could spend the money better elsewhere - but who? The 'released list' that was doing the rounds had very few props on if I recall. In fact I think Fielden was pretty much it - so lets hope FC has some people in mind for 2013....

| Can't see us releasing Joseph unless we have something lined up. I'll be surprised if Nas and mcavoy aren't retained. Thing to remember with released player lists is it doesn't cover championship or u21s players which is where I think we'll be looking to make the number up. Plus I expect Langley to prop a fair bit this year. Don't get me wrong, would have liked to see fielden back at club, but the deal had to be right for both parties IMO.

| With this likely to be one of the last contracts Fielden signs, he will be wanting to get the highest salary possible for his last (probable) 2 years.
I don't think it would have been wise to spend a large chunk of the cap on a player that might not play over 10 games a season. Other clubs can spend and not worry too much if he's not available, as they have a few more players capable of stepping in.
We are in need of value for money signings!

| Would've been a big risk given his injury record. His experience would have been useful but not at any price.
Hudders will be praying he doesn't get any knocks. Their pack (apart from Crabtree) was pretty poor last year and played way below their ability.

| Best of luck to Stuart but I don't think that sort of signing is for us. if we did get an experienced prop then it needs to be a seasoned, grizzled big old bugger that you can't injure, who will do the business for you week in week out. Doesn't have to be a superstar (and we can't afford one) but should be a completely reliable workhorse. So maybe someone who may be short of the class Fielden once had, but will be on the pitch for 90% of the season. I also genuinely hope Stuart manages to find a run of fitness, but we are not the club that can afford to take risks, given that we clearly will have to manage with a short squad.

If FC's got other targets that he thinks the money would be better and safer spent on then he's got to make that call in the circumstances we're in.
All depends on who those targets are and whether they sign for us.

| I agree that Fielden is a risky signing. If he's asked for silly money then more fool the club willing to pay it to a player who's not got barely 80 minutes of game time in 2 years. He was on the turn when he went to Wigan and never really regained the heights he achieved as a Bull playing for them.
