| To be honest I don't know much about him but a quick read of the T and A article makes me think he's definitley worth a go. Someone said in another post that there are shades of '96 regarding our big change in personnel. Another thing that happened then was recruiting from the National league with players like Matt Calland who came and did a job for us. I can't recall the last time we took a punt on players from the championship. His try scoring record and the fact he's in the Championship dreamteam means he's definitily worth a go. Good luck to him

| I've seen the guy live and on the TV quite a bit over the last few years and he certainly runs some good lines from fullback when attacking the defensive line. He's also a bit of an expert at winning short kick-offs.
He's been outstanding for Fax for a few years now.
Can't see him being on major money, so does add to the squad. Does make me think we'll use Kearney at half quite a bit and only move him when Southernwood is given a run-out.
Not only that, but Kearney missed his fair share of games last year so he may be cover for him if we do sign a stand-off.

I haven't seen him, but from what I have heard and read in the last 24 hours since his name broke it all seems positive. Quite happy with this signing, and I was thinking the same about kearney, signing another full back gives potter the option to move kearney into the halfs if he is not/cant sign a 6. Even if we do sign a 6 its more good competition for places.
...whos next?

| Cracking player, will score from anywhere on the park. He walks like he has soiled himself but turns into a whippet when he runs, very deveptive speed. Wont let you down. All the best shad.

| Does't he play as well though?
Good signing, always looked like a Super League player plying his trade in the lower leagues

| Royston is a very good signing, 103 tries in 102 games for Halifax is phenominal even at Championship level. I've only seen Halifax a couple of time on Sky this year, but he scored a cracking try running on the angle. Looking forward to seeing him play for us, but also to see if he can step up to Super League.

| Says a lot to me, that despite moving to local rivals, the Fax fans are wishing Shad well.
He must have been a hell of a player for them for that to happen.

Yes & Loose forward when required, he's rather versatile. You've bagged yourselves an honest player & I'm glad he got himself a SL club, I wouldn't have wanted him to go to a side in the same division as Halifax, see you all on boxing day as part of the deal hopefully ( That's how it works nowadays isn't it ? )

| Happy with the signing from what I've read about this player.
And if by taking a punt on a very good championship player we can afford to acquire a bigger name and still balance the books, its good all around and probably the route a club like us (i.e. with no sugar daddy) should be going down.
Although, does this mean the end for Dave Halley in a Bulls shirt? 3rd choice fullback?

| Quick question, does he count on the quota? He is an Aussie, just wondered if he was exempt or does this tell us something about Orford?

Aye but 1 and 13 are where he does most of his damage. He'll do a good job at you lot.

| I'm not an avid fan of the NL coverage (more often than not I forget it's on) but he is a player I have heard of. I've seen a few Halifax games this year and I do vaguely remember him and I've got Thurs nights game recorded after a tip off about him being our next signing.
His try scoring record is superb and he's been consistently a very good player for Halifax. I am glad we have given him a shot in SL and I don't think we can lose with this signing.
Now a couple of weeks left to confirm who will be 6 and 7 for us next year.. this is the news all fans are waiting for.
