what idiots. they whinged and whined when they nearly went out of business and now they're attacking a man who's helping them keep their team. If Mr Lawn wants to pull his £1 million out of city then I know another sporting club in the city would welcome him and his large wallet with open arms

Well you only have to read some of the comments on the T&A BULLS section to see that numpitness seems quite a widespread trait on that site? But, in principle, is it any different to those Bulls fans and "fans" who are vociferous in wanting Hood to get stuffed, especially every time we have a bad day?

Well that's true. I remember back in the mid 90's when Oasis were getting big and someone asked Noel Gallagher why, if he was such a big fan, he didn't buy Man City. His response was along the lines of "Because I don't want my windows put through every week"

I'd say that was probably the case. Even the comments I've seen written on non sports related articles seem to attract a brand of fairly aggressive bigots. Is there a link to the t&a from the Daily Mail website?

City don't half have some numpties watching the club, I did say that he would threaten to take his bat and ball home if the abuse got too excessive. However the version of events has been questioned by some. I can't comment on the Chairmen before my lifetime, but my 84 year old gran says nearly every person she can remember owning City has been a crook or a conman in one way or another, even going back to when she was a little girl. Lawn has put a one million loan into the club and he's charging interest, he also collects a rather nice wage from the club. I'm not saying that he was lying about the aforementioned incident and right now he's the best hope we've got, but whether he is there to give or take is still up for debate.

Lawn isn't a billionaire throwing money he doesn't need at a plaything, he is a successful businessman with a reasonable fortune, why shouldn't he charge interest on a loan when he is willing to forsake a fair potion of his money to aid the club?

You'd be hard pressed to make money from a League 2 football club with no assets to speak of, why some people think a chairman should unconditionally throw money away on football clubs is beyond me. Then again plenty of people seem to feel they are entitled to something for nothing nowadays.

Totally agree Adey, especially the comments about Peter hood.

Peter, I know, businessman as he is, is a fan at the end of the day and if he'd just stood back and said "not my problem, bud" when the previous regime made some pretty disastrous decisions and upped sticks, it's more than possible we wouldn't have a club today. You still have to wonder why they want it though.

It was far from 'attacking' the Chairman, from what I witnessed it was just a few city fans who were clearly angered at the result they had just watched, givin Mr Lawn a little bit of verbel for leaving the ground 5 minutes early.

dont get me wrong but i went to school with mark, i was in the same class,he is a great guy has been city through and through,why these knobh**ds slag him off is unbelievable, without him there would be no city . i would love to see him at odsal with the commitment he show's to city

Funnily enough though, when I bother to look I see a most amazing thing. I see someone who I could cheerfully have strung up by the 'nads at times last year now being one of the more realistic contributors on there; and making the same sort of meaningful contributions as his present regeneration is doing on here. Indeed, such is the metamorphosis (for now, at least... ) that (if asked) I would have confirmed that he was not one of those numpties to which I referred. Assuming of course that he is continuing to post under his usual username...!

Still plenty of potholes and potential wrong turns on the Damascus Road, mind...
