| For last minute Crimbo pressies, some of you old (and not so old) rockers should be interested in this bookBRADFORD'S NOISE OF THE VALLEYS - A History of Bradford Rock & Pop 1967 - 1987rl
I found out about this by accident but Waterstones have it on display by the entrance and there's also an accompanying 4 CD set of the rarest tracks from 80 or so bands mentioned in this amazing book.

| Thanks for that info FA, did not know about it but its a must have for me now.
Great times in this period with eclectic and vibrant music in almost every pub and club.
Almost forgot the term "Wool City" but it really meant a proud association to the scene at the time for both performers and revellers.
Dont it always seems to go that you dont know what youve got til is gone

| I was enjoying looking at this book in Waterstones on Xmas Eve. I might have to steal some of the kids book tokens to go and get it...

| Interesting book and as a former member of the 1 in 12 it brought back many memories both good and bad.
Really enjoyed it and made me wish I had kept in contact with a lot of folk from those (generally) good old days.

Could it have been The Golsborough up Bolton Road? I saw some bands there in the '80s but I can't remember what the gaff was called at the time. I might be getting confused though!

| Apparently the follow up bringing things up to the present date will be out in May.
I can't wait to read about Tasmin Archer, Gareth Gates and the guy in the Mr Blobby costume.

No idea as I wasn't here at the time, but I saw Limelight several times in Donny in the 80's. Fantastic band, one of the best pub bands I saw. Was it them who did a brilliant cover of Love Sculpture's (Dave Edmunds) epic Sabre Dance?

| Regarding Limelight, yes it was them that always finished off their set with 'Sabre Dance'
I honestly can't think of any venue or even potential venue in Bolton Woods. I was very active in watching bands from that era and don't recall any venue anywhere near Bolton Woods. They were regulars at the Princeville, and played a few other venues around town - I remember seeing them once at that pub on Westgate (next door to the Boy and Barrell down the hill). And possibly at the Royal Standard. They probably also played the old Talk of the Town venue on Leeds Road.
Happy Days....
