| Title as quoted by Dave Craven in today's Yorkshire Post. If that is the case, should not there be an enquiry as to what went amiss?. In the same article Jamie Peacock is quoted as saying after he donated £800 to the club to help with many other supporters to help fill the £1million shortfall," I actually feel a bit bitter along with other fans who rasied all that money which then just vanished into a hole or wherever."
My view is that there should be an independent investigation, possibly funded by the Rugby league Council who have not covered themselves in glory with regard to all this. The directors responsible should be made accountable and if there was financial or other misdeeds they should be punished.

| My view is that I should win the Euromillions. And it's about as likely to happen, especially as I don't have a ticket.

| There have been many mistakes made over a longish period at the Bulls and if that is all we are talking about, simple bad management, I doubt the RFL would ever want to get involved. They have been pretty much involved in too much of what has gone on for them to be very keen that approach.
So far as the money raised was concerned, it went to the tax office and the vat-man and other assorted debts, so far as I know - which I accept is a pretty big 'black hole', but I assume all the professional debt chasers who ran the club in those times must have checked all the 'money trails'. In any case, it did buy some time, short lived time it must be said, as the club's own 'black hole' was just too big. This was all documented at the time, to the best of my knowledge.
I think you also have to remember that Craven has a habit of sticking the boot into the bulls and the YP is the Leeds' local rag, so hardly impartial. If he has something to say he ought to grow some and publish, instead of roping in ex-players like JP to give him 'quotes' to twist.

| Also, I get sick of pointing out that without a shadow of a doubt, the money raised by the fans and sympathisers DID, 100%, keep the club from folding altogether with immediate effect. What followed wasn't pretty, but at least something TO follow still existed.

| This is one of my main annoyances as well – the club explicitly said at the time that we had only a matter of days to raise the initial half million to keep us afloat – it was never meant to be the end of our financial woes forever – it was to keep the club existing for another month. On those grounds, it was actually a “success”.

| We could go on forever though re-hashing everything. What if Caisley hadn't come in just before the deadline? Would Peter Hood's investors that were 'lined up' save the day? Would the last two and a half years of hell never have happened?
Answers please on a postcard, or on the back of a sealed down envelope.....

| And don't post them here. This stuff's been done to death.
Why Craven wants to drag it up again I don't know.

| I've just read the article and I don't see what the problem is. Peacock's point is a basic statement of fact. Hood could have called the administrator in prior to begging £500k and the net effect would have been the same. Had he actually done so prior to borrowing £700k from RFL and then selling the lease and losing all that money as well, the likelihood is the club would have held onto more of its assets, never have had their sky money reduced.... and so on and so on.
I don't see what's up for debate.

| I thought the title was referring to the financial management at the Yorkshire Post!

| Despite what is being saiid, I still think the perpetrators should be named and shamed, and possibly banned from any future role in rugby league. Further an in depth investigation of what went wrong would serve as a guide to future directors on what to do and what not to do.

| I think that the latter part of the saga might be too embarrassing for the rfl for the facts to be made public.

| thats clearly an issue for the RFL, however given their stated disenchantment with micro managing clubs it is highly unlikely they would have any appetite for uncovering stones only to find a mirror beneath. However desirable such a rev iew is, I am confident that in Marc Green we have rather luckily ended up with an owner that is aware of the pitfalls of sports funding and keeps the hype to the minimum, and is prepared for the long haul. So my focus is the future, not the past, the rake has been worn out as far as this forum is concerned whatever ashes may still be left.

| Note that the OK saga rumbles on, and if he wins his case about the conduct of the creditors' meeting and gets to appoint the liquidator (of OKB) then an investigation at least into the most recent farrago, of sorts, may well result.
