The officials for Saturday's rugby league Challenge Cup final have been named.

Referee Steve Ganson from St Helens will take charge of the Huddersfield and Warrington clash at Wembley.

The video referee will be Warrington's Phil Bentham.

I'm not sure I follow what you're getting at here.

Ganson deserves the final IMO. Been far and away the best referee this year.

And you're obviously an authority on referees, since you p*ss and moan about them every single bloody week, even before they've taken the field.

I'm sorry but Ganson gives some decisions that are just terrible and for me it had to be Thailer.

Ganson is the only one who has had the balls to stand up to the mouthy players this year (with the exception of the sending off of Brough). Almost every other ref lets the likes of Briers continue to question decisions all the way through, Ganson just tells them if they don't shut up, they'll go off the field.

This year, every time I've seen Ganson, I've been impressed with him having the guts to give some decisions (Howell red card also springs to mind) when you see other referees in the same situations bottle it.

I agree with that, but he still makes some awful decisions. Ian Smith has been one of the best this year imo, with Alibert and Silverwood the worst, followed closely by Bentham.

During the Cas v Wigan game on Sunday, you could hear everything Ganson was saying to the players. And to be honest, he didn't make a bad call.

He made a mistake with us in 2007, but can we please get over it?

Everyone on here says Ganson is great, he is amazing well it's amazing that we have yet to see him return to Odsal since the joke of a performance that he put in during the 16-12 loss to Huddersfield with two of the Huddersfield tries coming from forward passes and to rub it in a knock on.

Even in the cup loss at Catalans his last game this year for us (thank God just the two)

You can see how he got the Dragons back into the game with those four penalties on the bounce in the second half.

Surprised that Ganson's early award of penalties to deny two tries in last year's Eng vs Wales game attracted little comment. Each on their own was an example of vanity refereeing similar to MM07, but to come up with the second in the same game as the first... Has he eliminated this element to his officiating this season?
