Pollsters doing Excellent job - say recent polls.: |
|
| So, MG said yesterday that they would be released for sale within the next 10 days. The club had been working on them for a while and he believed we would find them innovative and hoped we would continue to support the club.
Innovative.
I assumed we would be doing similar things with a membership package. Or possibly a tiered pricing structure like City. We usually have a direct debit for 3 months to spread payments out over the offseason. Would innovative cover perhaps spreading a DD over 9months? Would our IT systems cope with that?
Anyone else think of anything?

| With rumours again of non payment of wages, I think the powers that be have to send out some reassuring messages re the financial future of the club. At this moment in time I think I would be a bit reluctant to fork out over £200 with the current uncertainty.

Me too. The only way I'm buying early this time is if there's a significant enough incentive to do so. Otherwise I'm waiting until fairly late for the exact reason you say, I'm not convinced things won't got tits up.

| Did we have any sort of flexi membership this year? Like a half season ticket or anything?
I'm starting a new job in November and I don't know yet if I'll be able to go to every home game like I could do this year. Something where I could pay so much for the membership and get tickets for maybe half the home games would be good. I know we had one for 2015 when you paid £60 (I think it was) for a membership (so you got the e-mails and whatnot) and could get a free ticket for one home game.

| Well if people are slow in buying or refuse to buy season tickets it's a self fulfilling prophecy isn't it?

Absolutely. No doubt it isn't helping the situation. But from a personal point of view, I can't afford to fork out money to something when I don't know what I'm getting for that money (if I'm even getting anything). I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat. And I'm afraid the goodwill well is well and truly dry now.

So, you want them to lie. That'll help.
I'll be buying my season ticket, in the full knowledge that our continued existence is precarious.
I say that now, simply because I want to offer support to Green, Rohan Smith, the new signings and the young lads, all of which are bright spots for the future, which if only we can keep going at the same level, might just itself become a bit brighter.
If large numbers do not do so, I can't really blame them, but as said, that is likely to be a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The only reassuring message would be if another person or company with lots of money came on board. What else do you think they can say?

| Fair point from FA ther. I thin kwe just have to believe that everything "will be ok", and when the season comes around, hope that Rohan has assembled a playing squad with a bit of character!

| Indeed. Until a moneybags comes on the scene we are where we are.
I doubt any of us on here can afford to chuck £200 down the drain. I guess it’s an individual choice at the end of the day whether to take the plunge and buy. One thing is for sure. If the majority hold onto their cash they’ll be sure not to lose it, but they’ll probably end up without a RL side to support.

| I would like a 9 or 10 month DD option. I think it would work well if the IT/admin are up to it. Shares the risk. The supporter has £20 per month going out. The club have regular money coming in for the offseason and about 2/3 of the regular season. If they didn't include playoffs in the ST then match day income would supplement the couple of months at the end of the season when the DD stopped.

| As far as reassuring messages go, I don't think anyone needs to lie. But the staff getting paid late every month is exactly the message you don't want to hear. Without that, perhaps people wouldn't be as weary to part with their money early.
The best thing the club can do if they want the season ticket money early IMO is to bring back an early bird price. Yeah it may cost in the long term, but if they need the money now rather than later, it's the only language that speaks to the majority of fans.

The problem with those kind of schemes is if half way through the season the team are doing rubbish again. You're bound to get some people who just cancel the direct debit because they don't want to go any more. It would have happened this season, I have no doubt.
If you have to be paid up my March (ish) then that risk for the club isn't there. And the way things have been in recent seasons, you can understand the club not wanting to take that particular risk.

| 9 months takes you up to June. Plenty of season to go after that. If the team are playing badly in March, you've already paid 2/3 of your ST, most people would see out the last 3months I would think.
The system would work best with cards & scanners (like at Headingley), but let's not get ahead of ourselves

How about you have to collect your ticket from the ticket office on game day and then if you stop paying you don't get your ticket?
