Hi Bull's fans, just wondered what your thoughts on DH expressing a wish to stay on at wakie. We really rate this lad and there's a few people (myself included) that are now speculating we should look to buy, splashing some cash if we have to. We let Peter Fox go through not pulling our fingers out, and IMO was a wrong move with reflection. DH has more potential than PF IMO so i think we should pull strings to keep this lad.
Having said that it's well worth watching on fri, nothing more than speculation till after then i think.
Thoughts?
Worth you keeping? Selling for the right price?
Thanks...

| Given that it seems Halley's never been able to nail down a starting spot unless virtually the whole team is dead I say good luck to him. But, given the rumours awhile back that we were looking to off-load Tupou, it would leave us a bit sparce should we get any injuries to our wingers.

Aye, and Eddie is hinting at it too. And, as we all know:

I cannot say I am surprised. He see's Platt get a three year deal and is now behind, Sherriffe, Tadulala, Tupou, Bullman, Bullseye, Ferocious Aardvark and the new catering company for a wing spot at Odsal so he is better off away.
That said, I would rather he stayed with us and got the chance to play more but that ain't gonna happen.

| First of all no personal offence, but..
How can you say that with a total lack of quality in your and wings. For a top four team you just don't compare to the other big boys.
Semi & Topou i would deem as average. with Platt and Sheriffe as poor to say the least.
DH will bite you in the bum if you let him go.
I just don't see the point of clubs like Bradford & Wigan of having youth development systems if you ignore the vast majority of the talent you produce.

You are Dave Halley and I claim my £5!
More seriously I'd agree with most of that, except I'm not sure Platt's as bad as is made out. He gets a few things wrong, but so do many others and their mistakes are more frequently overlooked. Sheriffe is an unknown quantity for Bradford just yet, he did alright at Harlequins and Doncaster, but I agree he doesn't set pulses racing.
Toupou is in the Karl Pryce mode, a big lummax who isn't sure he wants to play and is prone to getting injured easily. Some people are touting him as a prop or a second row, but he's shown nothing to me that would suggest he has the stomach for the hard yards down the middle. I dare say he'll be off to pastures new as soon as we can figure a way to get rid and that's why I'd rather us keep old of you - presuming you are DH himself.

| As much as I don't want to see him go, I think we should do the decent thing by the lad and let him go and play rugby where he can.
Macnamara clearly doesn't fancy him, which I believe is short sighted as I think with a run and some confidence he could do just as good a job as Tadulala or Sheriffe.
A good little un is a good little un, with the right technique and guidance he can overcome the obvious defensive issues that come with a smaller stature.
Exhibit A - Rob Burrow
I rest my case!

I see him more as a potential Lee Smith, being able to play anywhere in the back. Could end up at 6 or 7 this week due to our on going injury crisis. Has anyone ever seen him play in either?
Know I'm bias but i think it's a credit to the club that they can keep turning out results with 11 of the first 17 injured. Just out of interest (and not meant in a negative way) have you ever thought what your 17 would be like with 11 of your best out! it's scary whoever you watch!

| I think we should definitely grant him another months loan at Wakefield. The game time will certainly do him some good. If I was McNamara though I'd be reluctant to agree to a permanent deal. We are already short in the backs and if injuries strike we will need him back to cover. If that means sacrificing a small transfer fee to let him go early.. then so be it.
My personal thoughts on Halley is that he's a decent player, but you cannot get away from the fact that he lacks some physical presence. If he can develop a strong step and improve his ability to break the line to compensate for this then he could be a regular starter at the Bulls. Whether Sheriffe is much better remains to be seen. However I did think Halley did fairly well for us at FB but perhaps lacked the attacking ability that Platt (when playing well) can give us. On the flip side Halley seemed a safer pair of hands than Platt on occasions.
So is Halley good enough for a side with top 4 ambitions? Perhaps not.. but we have other players on our books who could also come under that category too.

| Go for him but don't offer them too much! You can get him for nothing at the end of the season and there's no chance of McNamara selecting him again barring a major injury crisis.

I agree with that. We shouldn't be looking to reduce our squad options. DH is playing every week and is obviously enjoying himself. IMO the current situation is to everyone's benefit and we have an option in him later in the season if we're unlucky with injuries.

| are big wingers that important nowadays? I don't understand the need to DH to be bulking up so much if he gets a full game at wakey scoring 2 tries against one of the more fancied teams in super league.
