what a shame maybe hetherington shouldnt have been so quick accusing bradford of bringing shame on superleague for signing someone who as yet hasnt been found guilty of anything when he's signing someone who's already convicted. people in glass houses and all that. Given the length of time appeal process takes we could well see bird before rhinos see eastwood

I'd be interested to hear exactly what his driving conviction was for. It would appear though that if we ever get to see Bird in a Bulls shirt he is going to need a completely clear criminal record. If they're denying players for driving convictions alone, it is hard to see them letting Bird in even if the lying to police charge is the only one that sticks.

| Meh.
We've got plenty of wuality players in his position anyway so hopefully we can see some more of those promising British youngsters we're so adept at producing.

| This Visa malarkey os getting a bit ridiculous. . .
Anyone know of any Australian nuns who want to play the oval ball - and are any cop? Beginning to look like they are the only one's who'll be allowed in. Meh, indeed,

yeah and you didnt want that world cup winning replacement for ellis that your fans have all been raving about really anyway
difference between rhinos situation and ours is bird was a last minute signing that we havent built our pre-season around, eastwood on the other hand was a long term signing that rhinos have planned around and if they had youngsters of the same standard then they wouldnt have signed him in the first place

Not having Eastwood won't drag us down to your level whereas having Bird might've helped you claw back some of the gulf, maybe.

No, the difference between our situation and yours is our overseas signings are the icing on the cake. The foundation of our team is brought through the ranks. Of course Eastwood is a very good player and it would've been nice to have him but we've got two international 2nd rowers and plenty of depth there. We won't miss a beat.

Bit of an understatement there. Leeds' overseas signings are more than just 'icing on the cake' and have played a vital part in their recent success.

Whilst they add to our overall quality in our 3 grand final wins the harry sunderland trophy has gone to diskin, burrow and smithy.
Now it might take a while but what have those 3 got in common along with sinfield, mcguire, hall, jjb and in the past scruton, walker, calderwood??

| Leeds, like a number of clubs, have had a good number of home grown talent come through their ranks.
Whilst I've no problem with [iany [/iteam using overseas players, I do find it odd (and more then a tad amusing) that given recent success there seems to be an ever increasing number of Rhino fans who seem to have convinced themselves that the likes of Webb, Lauitiiti, Buderus, Donald, Leuluai (and nearly Eastwood) merely [i"add to our overall quality"[/i or [i"icing on the cake".[/i
That's more icing than on your average wedding cake . . . . . . even for the perennial bridesmaid who's made it to be bride for a couple of years now

And the most recent Harry Sunderland Award winners for the Bulls were Leon Pryce, Stuart Reardon & Paul Deacon. So what?

| Seriously f...ed up. Leeds and Bradford are both businesses whose trade is being restricted, and I don't see the justification.

| Doesn't anybody find it strange that Eastwoods visa issues are announced hours after Bradford reveal Birds application for a visa failed?
It would not suprise me to find that Eastwoods visa issues were known by Leeds at the same time Bradford announced the Bird signing.
It could explain why Hetherington suddenly had issues with British clubs signing overseas players with legal problems.

Meaning that the overseas signings we've made aren't as vital nor the defining players in our success.
It's not that hard is it??
