I dont rate him, I never have. But he seems a Cummins type of signing. He did have some potential before he got injured. Lets hope he can extract some performance from him if it's true.

Wire fans have posted about Evans loan being extended so suspect that's correct. First I've heard about Owen and can't see where he'd fit in squad.

Owen looked to be a real rising star a few years back until the injury, ironically sustained at Odsal, which seemed to set him back. certainly not been the same since and I'd be surprised if we've signed him.

Owen has played wing, and centre as well as full back. I think he would make a decent centre but Franny would have to work on his mindset (drinking culture not helped his recovery from the bad injury) .

What does make me think this is possible is the fact that Franny said he wanted some projects and he would come under this for me. he is strong, fast and has good hands - could he learn the art of being a good centre and putting your winger away and being defensively strong? A change of environment might make him improve.

I'm pretty sure he was involved in the England/GB system before his injury, so I'm far from sure how anyone could really describe him as 'crap', since it's clear he had some ability at that time and was performing at a decent level. On the negative side he's [for whatever reason] fallen off the radar a bit and there must be a reason.

Worth a punt? Dunno, but if it didn't prevent the signing of the 'strike' centre we could really do with, I wouldn't actually be against it. As I guess he'd not [iexactly[/i be going to be on a cap busting salary [iand[/i I'd expect Franny to be a bit more aware of the background than I am, I'd go along with his views.

I rated Owen a few seasons ago, I thought he'd be cracking by now. I still keep an eye out for him to come good. As for having him at Odsal, I would've said yes but I think we're ok for wingers and outside backs (specialist centres aside). However just reading Bulliac's post and misreading his "Dunno", I suppose I always likened him to the outside back equivalent of Donaldson.
