| im sure now a lot of clubs will wait to see if we go into administration to try and poach our players but maybe if we have an offer from warrington for bateman or an offer from south sydney for burgess we should just let them go if there are no more investors, as much as i would h8 to lose them

| better saving the club now, i think the directors would be mad to refuse an offer at this stage.

| Burgess is out of contract at the end of the season, with three of his brothers located in Aus, and the press publishing quotes from him saying he'd be interested in going, it doesn't take much to suggest that even if we suddenly got a big lottery win he'd stay with us. He'll be in Aus next season, you can pretty much guarantee it.
The only thing that could possibly keep him in the UK is that bird off Corrie who he's seen a couple of times. Doubt she's got that much influence on him at the minute to pursuade him not to go live in Sydney.......

| The only way I could see Bateman going before any type of administration would be someone like Huddersfield wanting (and having the money) to make us an offer now that we would accept to allow them a headstart on all the clubs who might be interested but reluctant to pay a big fee in a transfer war.
For example, I'm sure a lot of teams wouldn't mind Bateman and could find ways of paying him £x that would be matched by other clubs - eg, someone like Leeds may be able to pay Bateman the same as Wire and Hudds, but probably wouldn't be interested in paying £200k (as an example) for him that Wire and Hudds probably would pay up front to secure his services.

| If you know that for a fact and not an assumption, then we should accept it. Sad though it would be to lose him, the survival of the club is all that matters.

| I can't remember if the figure was definitely 300k but Hood has publicly stated that there is a written offer from Wire on the table.. or certainly was.

'was' being the operative word
Just because they were willing to pay that sum back then doesn't mean they'll pay it when we are on the cusp of Administration.

Fact that we've refused to sell when it could potentially avoid admin says a lot too.
Thing people forget is players aren't assets like buildings or cars. Administrator can TRY to sell them but only works if they agree personal terms.

Their contracts are assets - see the "sale" of Lynch for £100K and he surely agreed terms that were favopurable to him
Bateman's contract is an asset, one of the most sought after in SL (or NRL ) with a potential further 14 years of playing at the top level.
I can see why clubs are making an offer now to ensure his transfer as its unclear what would happen to his contract under the various potential reformations of the Bulls.
Its well known that Burgess will complete his contract this year and go to Aus with his mother for next year.
