I wasn't even born...

Most of our squad wasn't born. Looking at it again on YouTube, it was a good try but I think Newlove's in the mud against Cas was better.

How we flattered to deceive.

Worst thing about the game was having no msg boards to go on afterwards. So much to say and so few to say it to..........

I was at the match but don't remember the ref being blamed at the time. I'm sure if it was re-viewed now that wouldn't be the case.

Probably the most outstanding try and moment I can remember from watching Northern/bulls since the sixties. That with the try saving tackle from Lionel Williamson on Trevor Lake in a sixties challenge cup match, a berwyn Jones try at Headingley in a challenge cup match against Wakefield and that robbie paul try at Wembley against Saints in the 96 cup final!

I'd only just turned 3 but haven't seen a clearer example of the RFL conspiracy since.

I also remember a right wing length of the field effort by Lionel Williamson, on an Odsal Saturday afternoon during the mid sixties, and a very similar one to the Jones try. What I always remember about that score was how long it too him to cover the 100 yards or so, and Williamson was a bit quick, with no one touching him on way to the line. It goes to show how much fitter players are now. That try may have come against Swinton, but I may be wrong.

Good try but like the Newlove sidestep with pass to Kebbie even more from that game
