| I'm surprised there isn't already a poll so I'll do one.
Not who you think we'll get but who you would sign - within reason!
Select up to three preferences.
I've enabled re-voting in case someone rules themselves out.

Except if we're being realistic, Bellamy IMO shouldn't be a choice.

| Probably not. I tried to include all the names being put forward with any kind of seriousness.

| My first preference would probably be a Coach from the NRL with 1st team coaching experience.
Now I don't know who is in a position currently that might be out of contract next year and would like a stint in SL. However names like Jason Taylor, Steve Folkes, Graham Murray are coaches that are in low profile jobs in Australia right now. If we could attract a current NRL Coach like the Giants did, then even better but that seems less likely.
Perhaps more importantly I'd like to see us bring in an English assistant to work alongside the experienced Head Coach. Somebody like Paul Anderson would be ideal and is highly thought of in coaching circles. I reckon we could probably tempt Lowes to Odsal for a similar role. He got the Wire job too early but with his tactical brain and the ability to read the game you would think he could be a good Head Coach in a few years.
So in summary, an experienced Head Coach from the NRL and a former player/current player working alongside them for 3-4 years with a view to taking over eventually.

| Shane Flanagan, assistant at Cronulla, anyone?
That name has cropped up on here before.
I think we need an NRL assistant who is looking to use a slot in SL to boost his credentials for an NRL head coach slot in the future. Who will bring through his assistant to be the next head coach.
If we go for a British coach, I'd want the nearest equivalent to Macca. He currently coaches at The Twickenham Stoop.

| I know people keep saying an 'NRL assistant' but I think we need to be careful they're the right man for the job.
Although Shane Flanagan is supposedly highly rated and has coaches alongside Bellamy for NSW. I'd love to know which coaches have expressed an interest so far.

I'd say it's right to include him in the list as with the problems at Melbourne, who knows what might happen. I personally don't think it's likely at all, but we can hope.
Personally, I think Anderson wouldn't be a bad choice as I've said elsewhere, but if not, I'm with Adey on this. I don't think McDermott is a bad choice as he, more than anyone, will be fully committed to bringing top English youngsters through the academy into the first team. And I honestly think our current academy is a veritable gold mine.

| Out of the above, then Craig Bellamy would be the obvious choice. Unfortunately, unless he desperately wants to escape the firing line then it's not realistic. Beacuse of this i've gone for other.
Jason Taylor would be my first choice without a doubt. If not then an assistant like Flanagan.

| There is no way we will get Bellamy. Steve Foulkes and Steve Mezies as his assistant.

| The perfect team would be a well knowledged Australian from the NRL, in the Maguire/Brown mould with Beaver and Medley working with him.

| It's most unlikely that any senior coach from the NRL would be at all interested, perhaps an assistant might be tempted to enhance his reputation.
Its also doubtfull that Steve Menzies could be considered as an assistant as he has not so far taken and coaching course qualifications and has not indicated that he will. To do so in the UK would probably mean that he needs another year's player contract with the Bulls which is not yet certain. Also there might be difficulty for him to retain his UK work permit as an inexperienced coach rather than a player.
Consideration should be given to what the primary role of the new coach will be and the attributes needed to fill that role in relation to the club's current and future plans for recruitement.
Of the coaches that may be available in England I can see no further than the two Brians, and McD being to me the obvious candidate. His record at Quins is excellect in respect of his resources and with young talent.
