| They're adopting the same strategy as the company I work for use every couple of years. If things aren't going well, change your name!

| I can understand the logic behind the change. I just hope that it pays off for them

| I thought it would have been better to keep a geographical location in their name.
The Newport Crusaders?

| Maybe they don't want to tie themselves to one town and want to appeal to the whole of South Wales.

South Wales Crusaders?
If they are going to be known as "Crusaders" is it time for every SL to lose the town / city name, as with the Super 12's (I think?)?

Think the unions sides down there go by that thinking don't they? Scarlets? Ospreys? Leeks?

| I'll keep an open mind but if they move away from Newport then its safe to say the franchise is dead in the water. If people learn anything from franchises past its that a nomadic existence is the hallmark of failure.
I think Quins would be a very different team (and a better named one) if they hadn't tried every football ground and dog track south of Watford.

| Why not just Wales Crusaders or Welsh Crusaders? Worked for the New Zealand Warriors.

maybe the idea is to distance themselves from a geographical location. would certainly make it easier come next round of franchises if RFL decide to cut their losses and bring in, say, cumbrian crusaders

| The move to Newport is for only two years, a new stadium is being built at Bridgend. The Newport ground is also due for rebuilding in two years time anyway Rather strange name for a Welsh side as Crusaders historically wore the red cross of St George hardly the best symbol in Wales.
Hope they have better luck than Odsal which seems to have gone on forever. I remember visiting an exhibition in Bradford in 1948, Bradford Town Hall if I recall correctly, and there was a model of how the ground would look in the future. Also at the exhibition was a plan to move the post office which stood in front of the cathedral. At that time it appeared that there was more chance of the Odsal site being developed than moving the GPO!!

| And strangely, just about everything other than the Post Office (and including many buildings which were built a good while after 194icon_cool.gif which stood in front of the cathedral have gone, but the PO and Odsal stand, slightly changed but basically identifiable, to this day. Plans of mice and men, eh...............
