| Is the malaise that seems to be sweeping through the club now effecting this forum.
Normally after a game especially a loss their has been numerous different threads kicking about. These have ranged from Sack the coach, keep the coach, were crap. Each one of these threads had the usual members of the [iNT[/i and [iPT[/i gangs fighting their respective corners normally till the bitter end.
What now seems to be very evident is that people just can't be bothered anymore . It appears that people now seem to accept that a defeat was just one of those things that were bound to happen.
IMO this apathy is effecting match day crowds no one I spoke to on Sunday seemed to be bothered we had lost and had been dire again in the second half. It seems that more and more people are having he passion for the club drained out of them at one time a win would pick me up for the whole week and a loss I'd be a right misery but now it doesn't bother m one way or the other.

| I've said before that whilst people may not like criticism it is better than no reaction at all. The next step is that people that have lost interest will stop going. I'm afraid that the move to VP in order to start work on OSV will kill the club off altogether. (And I do know all the arguments, I am simply saying that I feel the timing could not be worse).

| It's odd this. Some of us continually argue and debate the same points and we get called boring. We stop in order to placate the masses and it appears that we lack passion? Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
FWIW, my opinion is unlikely to ever change on the issue. I still feel that we are being coached by a complete incompetent but the club seem to have every faith in him so there is not much I can add.
Quite why the club seem to be happy with this "building for the future" thing whilst all else seems to be declining is confusing to say the least.

| The general apathy and acceptance that seems to be descending on the supporters is quite alarming.
I was going to post more, but I can't be bothered...

| Argument is, as ME points out, largely academic. We know Hood backs SM and while we can offer possible replacements for SM, we have none for Hood.
I think what we're seeing is the mirror image of the '96 feel. The potential energy stored up by fifty years with just one Wembley trip and fifteen without a trophy meant that the silver rush was a huge contrast that captured people's imagination. Now, the current situation looks all the worse when compared to what went immediately before.
As I've just posted on another htread, what I find odd is this 'It shouldn't happen to a Bradford fan' vibe. I'm hardly the oldest stager on here, and yet I've seen us significantly worse than this.

You don't have to worry about that it's not VP that the club are looking at moving to.

Yes most people would agree with that but the difference is a lot of those sides were expected to struggle this one wasn't.

I'm sorry, but I agree with you

We disagree on this, as I have been saying for a while that Mac has got the dead man walking air about him although tbf he survived a dreaded chairman's vote of confidence about 6 weeks back.

But the club is having to build for the future, and I doubt that anyone is exactly "happy" 100% with everything. Many are "happy" with our re-emerging youth setup but that is going to avail us littel for a year or two. Do you think there is [ianyone[/i who is "happy" with the decline of 2009? I doubt you do.

Plenty of people in Leeds, Hudds' and probably a few others.

But this time is very different. Back then we were on the edge of switchig to Super League. For the rugby fans we had Brian Smith acquiring anybody and everybody. Some good, some not so good and they were on short term contracts. THey didn't stay long but the comings and goings generated a lot of interest. Off the field Peter Deakin grasped the Super League thing and pushed the newly named Bulls into every school and home in the area. On top of that we started to win things. Now we are a club that seems to show little imagination off the field and are permanently in transition. As you say you can remember when we were in worse positions. So can I. Unfortunately a lot of speccies can't.

Obviously I would hope not but the post Fans Forum positivity seemed to suggest that the club were a bit more content with the situation than many on the terraces were at that time.

A decent summary of the current position to be fair.
I`m in the position of being able to remember 1963, so it`s fair to say I`ve definitely seen worse. I do agree that looking at the recent past makes our present position seem much worse, how could it not?
I`m one who hasn`t commented on the last game, not because of apathy but because there is little new to say to be honest. You can take the comments from any one of ten previous games and just copy and paste. I`ll still never know why the defence seems to follow the plan to the letter and defend like heroes (Leeds at home, Saints away, Wire away etc) then the the same players tackle like an under twelve girls team the following week(You might well know an under twelve girls` team which tackles far better than the Bulls have done on far too many occasions this season, so I`m sticking this edit in to apologise to any under twelve girls` teams who feel insulted).
As regards `it shouldn`t happen to a Bradford fan` I`ve never believed any side can carry on forever at the top (life just ain`t like that), so it goes without saying that I don`t believe any side has the divine right to win all the time. Maybe a few fans who only came on board post `96 are having a bit of a reality check?
Four or five years back there was a guy on the Leeds club board who always used the words "maybe next week Leeds" as his sig, got to say I`m seriously thinking of changing it slightly and using it myself

| Mentioning the fortunes of the club in the 60s or the 80s might provide historical perspective but that's it. Sure the club aren't at death's door but the first team is in decline and is in the worst league position at this stage in the season since 85/86 IIRC. That's still pretty dire.
Most fans won't know or care about where the club was 30 or 40 years ago. It's where it is now and where they perceive it to be heading that matters.
Given the positive vibe that came out of the fans forum I'd say that fans can cope with having less success at the moment so long as they can see obvious signs of improvement. The decline since 2006 needs to end soon. It's great to see kids like Whitehead coming through but we also need to see the rest of the first team play to their potential, find some more consistency and improve.
Performances like the one versus Cas simply infuriate everyone and overshadow all the fine words and efforts behind the scenes with the academy. More often than not the first team have shown that performances like the one versus Cas are in the main what we can expect this year. While that remains the same and the protagonists are kept at the club all we can expect is further decline.
