| I can't find a link but there's an article in this morning's Yorkshire Post about Danny Sculthorpe. He has a right pop at John Kear and says his three years at Wakefield were miserable (including being fined £1800 for swigging six bottles of beer on the bus back from Harlequins!)
It does sound like he's knuckling down at Bradford and he's positive about the role McNamara has given him as a ball playing forward with a lot of freedom.
He was certainly more impressive at Huddersfield at the end of last year, let's hope he continues that at the Bulls.
Could he turn out to be a shrewd signing?

| Personally I'm hoping he shows the sort of form he did at Castleford, as that's the time I've watched him and thought he was a really handy player. One game I remember on Sky when I think he got man of the match, as his kicking game actually won it for Cas. That sort of thing from a prop can just completely take the opposition by surprise. Hopefully he hits that kind of form, then he will be a decent signing.
He's very much one of those "let's see how it goes" kind of players though. Could work out, could completely backfire.

| However, he's injured at the moment. Hopefully, he can be fit for the start of the season

Sculthorpe & unleashed are not 2 words I would automatically associate with each other.

Under-achieved. Or Useless for most of his career.

| If I were a Bulls fan I'd be quite worried about the petulant and childish outburst from this oaf. Just a few flaws in his argument.
1: Why bother having a pop, why not show the same dignity as Kear and keep quiet and move on. When he rang Kear up BEFORE Cas were relegated in 2006 begging for another shot in SL was he so brave. He doesn't owe Kear his career but considering he threw him a life line when he needed it most a little decorum wouldn't go amiss.
2: Only six bottles! When it's an outright ban on drinking how do you come up with the term "only"! Or did he think he was so special it didn't apply to him.
3: Too regimented - read did not want to do as I was told by a coach who knows far more than him or turn up and train properly. McNamara will get walked over.
4: Much travelled, says it all.
5: Fined £1,900 - a weeks wages - and he wasn't happy earning that for playing a sport he allegedly loves. Even more so when he barely managed more than 15 games a season. Says all you need to know about this big fat baby.
Very few players who have left BV have I wished misfortune upon. I even wished Sol the best unhappy though I was at the manner of his departure. This oaf however I wish no good fortune at all, vile person that he is.
You have signed a bad one.

But! Think he could do a job if you manage to get the best out of him - not a bad player on his day, but to throw his teddy out of the pram like that just makes him look like a pillock.

To be honest, when we signed him I reckoned he was a shiite signing. After you have written all this though I reckon he will be a good one given your past record of talking complete and utter .

There are parallels between it and Newton's parting shots the other way

Took the words right out of my mouth. But in a computer writing sense....
Vastman, how do you feel about having a (in your words) "childish oaf" as your new hooker?

| So it's Kear's fault that the genius that is Sculthorpe wasn't unleashed on the pitch. Bearing in mind that we finished higher than everyone expected (5th place, in case you'd forgotten), I think it could be safely assumed that Kear's judgement was the correct one.
Not being fond of tough training does not seem to be a great quality to take to a club.
In case you have trouble spotting him, he's the bloke who ambles ten meters, and when he is in the tackle throws out wild passes, some of which work, some of which land your team in trouble. Leave it to Solomona, Scully.

So the coach of the side that finished 3rd doesn't have a clue?
