I don't think we should risk Mullaney or Gaskell as this game means nothing in terms of league position. As Purtell picked up a knock against Leigh, I'd start Mendeika at 6 and bring Clare onto the bench.

article that said gaskell,mullaney and sjelka were all back in training was quite specific about saying they would all 'be available for the middle eights' rather than immediately, So I think its safe to say none will be risked v fax. Thought mendieka looked handy in his stint in halves so would let him carry on this weekend. Anyone with a niggle , Purtell and ferguson spring to mind should be left out and given max recovery time for middle eights. Would like to see obrien rested but article today about him being ever present suggests he'll definitely play some part, hopefully just a cameo with halafihi getting a decent amount of gametime. Result this weekis immaterial only thing that matters is a good performance and no further injuries.

I would put Clare out for the 80 ... we are going into the 8s so no time for easing in. Thoughts are as Matt said really. Unusually for me, I would say this game Is a game that we could do without frankly.

Could be worth seeing how Clare goes at centre. I don't think Caro or Williams have done anything wrong for him to take their place, as much as I rate Clare.

This game has very little riding on it other than gaining momentum for the Middle 8s, but there's a week off next week anyway. I'd rest one of our two best props, and as Clough was rested against Sheffield, I'd give Sidlow a rest for this one. I'd give Halafihi some game time too and give O'Brien a bit of a rest.

Fair enough, havent really followed the U19 team.

He's a full back and a good prospect imo, bit of a live wire. Maybe this is just a first brush with warming up with the first team but I'd give him a go tbh.
