| On Gill when he came back from his last injury he looked out of sorts. Sheffield opened us up down the left a couple of times and then away at Batley they did the same. Given that we won both games perhaps it wasn't seen as a big issue but I had reservations about him playing at York and so it proved. Even so, if he's fit I'd rather have him in the side than Hurrell who isn't our player and moves like an octogenarian. Myers would be better on loan if we're going down that route.
Doro coming back is a big plus. He won us the game at Fax remember and was player of the year by some distance last season. We've not come close to replacing his enthusiasm and impact. Losing Pele too means we rely too much on Scurr to get us on the front foot. Our halfbacks and backs need space to play and we need to dominate the collision to do that.
Seeing as we're now without Donaldson for the season it'd be good if we could bring someone in. Baitieri and Segeyaro were huge for us when we brought them in mid season, we need some players of their ilk.

| Squad on rfl site.
Nothing major. Liu and Gill included (which just makes a farce of the loan system)
Should have been a game to give a young one a chance. Sometimes they can be a bolter (Myers a couple of years a go) if we're not going to do it in this game then we never will. So looks like only option is Noble resolving the issues for the York game with the current players because we've nothing to fall back on. That or more panic loan signings SL clubs don't want.
Anyway 40-10 win.

| Our juniors haven't exactly been ripping up trees in the academy or reserves have they? But on the whole I agree, if they're not being picked vs Hunslet then we're not going to play them. No Armitage I see so expect Hooley on the wing.

| Great to have Doro back, he will also provide some much needed impact versus York.
Could do with a longer term option but as short term cover he is the best signing we could have made. Just hope the injury to Armitage isnt serious as he has been a really solid presence for us. I'm guessing it will be Gill or Hooley on the wing.

I was thinking maybe someone who's too old for the academy who's ahead in their development. Someone like Bateman, Gill. Rayner did well in pre-season. I wouldn't put more than one or two in. History shows that giving a young player a chance, they quite often take it and end up becoming an important player in the team. From Myers last season, to the likes of Ethan Ryan. I am feeling deflated at the moment. We'll comfortably beat Hunslet as they're not very good. Okunbor will score a hat trick and make metres for fun (which to be fair he's done all year) but then come up with another costly howler against better opposition. And then we've no one to turn to to drop him as we've not blooded any young player and we're no going to do it against a Widnes/Doncaster are we. Our only option is the coaching sort out the same short comings of the current squad, which they've not done yet despite plenty of opportunities to and if that doesn't work, our only option is to turn to desperate two week loans.

Well, of the young forwards we have, Peposhi is ahead of the likes of Bateman, Gill, Leake and Bates. I would expect him to get gametime first. Backs, a bit trickier. Rayner on the wing, Sam Ackroyd in the halves (we have a lot of halves though), Balback - FB I think - we have 2 really good ones already. I would think Peposhi might get the nod into the 17.

| If Peposhi gets a run of games, I think he could/should take that 13 shirt off Hallas. I really like his passing game from 13. He just needs a good run in the side to show what he can do.

| Over the past 30 odd years we only tend to play the kids when there's a particularly bad injury crisis or lack of cash meant a change of focus away from the transfer market. I think it's realistic to expect one to come through and "make it" each year but since Jayden Myers we've not seen anyone break through properly.

| He's not been in great form lately. Maybe he's been dropped? I bet Nobby plays Hurrell too.

The physio went on to him at Barrow early in the 2nd half, but he finished the game fine. So I'm not sure.
