Big blow the injury and length of it. I think we've struggled when Gaskell has been missing. Lilley and Johnson or Jowitt look like the cover unless we bring someone in. Looks like an approach for Tom Gilmore has been knocked back from Widnes. Personally I think we definitely need someone in, be interesting to see if Moss is fit for the Wigan Reserves game and how he goes in that.

Gaskell was never going to play every games this season. He had a good run last year for us but he does have the unhappy knack of picking up the knocks. We do need another half to take pressure off Lilley, not sure whether Johnson or Ott (subject to visa clearance) could do that. Jowitt can't as we've seen so far.

Gaskell's deal is up at the end of the year so a longer term replacement is needed anyway. Wonder if a revised offer for Gilmore might be on the cards?

Gilmore would have been a great pick up but can understand Widnes reluctance to let him leave. Reassuring to hear the Bulls are scouring the market and looking to strengthen in that position.

It's going to be difficult to recruit at this time of the season. No harm in making enquiries. A few clubs out there may have money problems which might make them more likely to sell.

Full 80 mins for Dan Moss in the reserves today and a try, Tyran Ott played as well. So good minutes for them both so hopefully their both in the mix for Halifax two more bodies to add to the squad
