| I like it more cause it shows how keen the club are. Real statement.
Could’ve left it until august but no, let’s get him tied down now and I’m hoping there’s more to come.

| Interesting thread.
The Patton extension is great news. A class halfback in this league, and one of the best goal kickers around.
Not sure I am comfortable the club using vaccination status as a basis for signing a player or not. If a player is good enough, adds quality and improves the team, and is affordable - we should be looking to sign them. Them exercising their personal choice on a vaccination that poses next to zero threat to them and their team mates is just that - their choice

It's all a bit moot now
We are obviously committed to Patton and Lilley (with Jowett as back up)
Where would Ford fit in? He isn't going to go somewhere as back up having been the main man at Toulouse for years.

| Patton contract extension is great news. I was very impressed when we signed him and even happier now we’ve got him and Lilley locked down to give us stability in the spine.

| It's good to see the club being proactive and sorting out our halfback partnership with an eye on more than just this season. Patton has looked very good indeed so far. Recognising that it is early days I will stick my neck out and say that he'll prove to be a better signing than Danny Brough.
With Jowitt coming along nicely I don't think we need another halfback really. I think that if we are looking to strengthen then it's at centre where we look a bit thin. Gill and Evans have shown up well so far but if we lost one to injury we're left playing people out of position and centre is such a difficult position defensively for a novice.

Myers and Nichol are decent cover for centres plus MDJ has played centre in the past.

| Myers and Nichol have barely played any competitive games at all so I wouldn't agree they're decent cover. MDJ looks like a better option but I'd feel more comfortable if we had someone that was proven at this level as backup. Evans hasn't got the best injury record (nor has MDJ) and there will come a point when both our first choices get a knock, need a rest or lose form.

| Trouble is are we going to be able to sign a proven centre who is prepared to sit on the sideline until one of our regular centres is injured.

| I doubt we'll get anyone now - maybe a dual reg player from Hull or a loan from Leeds may help if we get injuries. I take your point about who's going to come and sit on the bench but every good team has competition for places. We have it in other parts of the team - I just think we look thin in the centres.

| I think we're light in the backrow which is a pool you can use in other positions. Backrowers tend to be able to defend so can go to centre if they have a bit of pace like Gilmour, or go in to the front row like Radford, or even half back like Addy.
Be interesting to see how he uses Evans if he's playing all 3 hookers.
