| so, we get official confirmation we are in special measures. Clearly this happened a few weeks ago, with blocking a new signing a few weeks ago. The RFL, as the governing body, are well within their rights to do this. No one in their right minds would question this.
But.......
Why has it only been confirmed now. It makes the RFL appears vindictive!!
Also the lack of any acknowledgement or appreciation that the move to Dewsbury is looking to address the financial issues at the club is really disappointing. What do they expect Chalmers to do when he is spending a huge amount of maintenance on an asset which is clearly not fit for purpose. Remaining at Odsal would lead to one outcome.
Chalmers clearly has a plan. The decision to leave Odsal/Bradford must have been very difficult and one of last resort. Lots may not like the plan (including me), but surely everyone should recognize this is the only option to develop a sustainable business, but the RFL don't acknowledge this. Also, there should be some credit given to Chalmers for continuing to invest in the academy, when he clearly has struggled to balance the books. That Academy has continued to produce high quality players for the Bulls and other clubs. Surely the RFL don't want the cloth cutting to focus on those costs rather than trying to keep a dilapidated stadium open for business
The approval for 1 year also appears vindictive, why only 1 year, makes no sense.
Imho the RFL should approve the 2 year move, and make future membership of the league contingent of having a approved funded plan to move back to Bradford. We stay in special measures until we provide sufficient comfort that we are over our financial issues.

Quote Pumpetypump="Pumpetypump"My god. Whoever is manning the fort at Bradford should have been straight on the phone to tell AC the article he left in his outtray had been overtaken by events. Putting out that is a bad decision.
www.bradfordbulls.co.uk/article/ ... from-odsal'"
Do we assume that piece was written a few days ago, before last night's statement from the RFL?
Because it starts by confirming that the RFL [uhave[/u approved the move to Dewsbury. The lack of mention of any of the conditions attached suggests they weren't known when it was written
Now, we know that the RFL Council met yesterday (in London, I believe). So, can we deduce that the full Council decided to 'put the boot into the Bulls' at the that meeting, perhaps wanting to 'toughen up' their approach after Rimmer had told Chalmers that the move was OK earlier in the week.
All very strange...

| Quote le penguin="le penguin"Surely if the RFL are worried about our finances then "cutting our cloth" and moving to Dewsbury to reduce costs would be a good thing, not "poor"...
'"
That is if the move really does reduce costs. The figures stated could be vastly over exagerated and its not beyond the realms of possibility that Chalmers is lying as only last week he lied about the club been in special measures despite knowing they were.

£2k a game at Dewsbury = £26k per year.
Rent for Odsal - £72k per year.
So even if you take out the fact that the Bulls have to meet the upkeep costs of Odsal, they're £46k a year better off playing at Dewsbury.
Also, a few weeks ago we were considered financially able to sustain a reserve team when there have been other clubs denied that privilege

Why would he lie though? What benefit would lying to take us out Bradford to play at Dewsbury bring?

| Quote Nothus="Nothus"I still can't quite believe the sport's governing body waited until 9pm on the Friday night of a bank holiday weekend before putting a statement like that out on social media.
What a complete and utter lack of contempt for the fans and supporters of this club, the same set of fans that they have been more than happy to milk for every penny at the summer bash events, the trips away to newcastle on the same weekend as the magic weekend.
Why even release that statement publicly at all? If you want more from the club then ask them directly instead of airing all this dirty laundry, it's embarrassing for everyone involved.
And now we have the whole bank holiday weekend with all this sh*t on our minds and hanging over our club. Thanks a lot.'"
Entire statement comes across very poorly. They can't do anything about us leaving odsal so they keep us in special measures out of spite.

| I don’t get the negativity towards Chalmers. He’s stepped into lead the club when we had no other viable options, and after seeing others struggle and fail. He may not turn out to be the saviour we all hope for, but until that turns out to be the case, he deserves the support of the fan base.
I don’t have an issue with his decision to take the bulls away from odsal. It’s the only logical and sensible decision he could make. Odsal is the biggest reason the club is in this predicament, and until the club has dealt with the situation, it will always be on shaky foundations.
Of the three main parties involved in the discussions and negotiations, I’d take Chalmers leadership over that of The RFL (who are leading the sport on a slow death march) and of Bradford Council (who are incapable of making any inroads into the city’s continual decline)

| Can somebody explain to me what advantage Chalmers could gain from going into administration/liquidation? Surely he is trying to protect his investment by leaving Odsal. The RL appointed him they should back him.

| Quote roofaldo2="roofaldo2"TBH, I think it's sensible to keep your powder dry in this instance. The RFL initially said they knew nothing about Bradford moving to Dewsbury, despite the RFL having someone at the meetings between the Bulls and the council. And now, they're basically saying "until we see your accounts, you can't sign any players" and as they're not released until October, we're basically being punished for standing up to the RFL because we'll lose all our out of contract players and will have to scrabble round to pick up the scraps after October.'"
Nothing to do with the company accounts. Champ clubs submit income projections to the RFL and based on those agree a salary cap. Sounds as though they don't believe the basis of the submitted figures.
