WE ARE DELIGHTED TO REVEAL THE FIRST BATCH OF SCHOLARSHIP STARS TO PEN PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTS WITH THE CLUB...
Lewis Camden, Reece Ripley, Jayden Myers, Lewis Adams, Kieran Lupton and Taylor Mail will all feature for Leigh Beattie and his Academy outfit next term, having put pen to paper this week.
They have all impressed in the red, amber and black in 2018 for Mark Dunning’s Scholarship side - who are preparing for their final game of the season against Castleford Tigers next Wednesday.
Dunning has spoken of his delight at capturing the signatures of the players who have warranted the deals with their ‘work ethic’ and eagerness to improve.
“I am absolutely delighted – we have made offers to a large proportion of the squad, which is warranted with their work ethic and I am delighted the first six have put pen to paper to continue their journey is,” said Dunning.
“It is not about results as we keep saying, what we are trying to do is develop young players who will progress and subsequently that development will see them work towards the reserves and first team.
“That is how you measure yourselves on success but the more we can get through the ranks the better.
“We look to sign good people who fit into the environment here – this club is bigger than everyone and people have to fit into the ‘Bulls way’.
“We are very lucky to have signed this bunch and working with Leigh – who I know will grab his opportunity with both hands – we will look to take our Academy forward.
“We will look to keep progressing and we can produce good, young, quality players here and long may that continue.”
The next crop of Scholarship stars to have signed professional contracts with the club will be revealed over the coming weeks

| Reserves season gets going tonight. The club website only lists 12 players in the Reserves squad, all young. Nine have been promoted from the Academy and three have joined us from elsewhere. Some very tough challenges await but if one or two of them can develop into first teamers then it will be well worth it.

| Looks like the Bulls have been more widespread in their youth recruitment recently at u15s and 16s Scholarship and the Academy. Looking at recent player announcements. Do we have new connections in the Northwest? That maybe helped with the Eliot Peposhi, and Daniel Moss trials. At academy level Lewis Owens from West Bank Bears over in Widnes and Tom Glover from Thatto Heath in St Helens u15s Scholarship. A few others from Northwest clubs for the u16s, hearing from parents who have sons on at scholarship level. Can only benefit us long term, be good to get a bit of an insight on the youth side of things.

| O'Carroll is a Wiganer so that may have something to do with it. Makes me wonder when was the last time we had a coach from that side of the Pennines. Can't think of anyone from the red rose county coaching us.

| Yeah good point about O'Carroll, no former coach instantly springs to mind now you mention that. So yeah could be down to EO.
