| I think the club have been delaying offering deals to some of the younger players in order to see how they develop. It’s a fine balancing act because they might think they’re not wanted and start looking elsewhere. I’m sure the agents will be touting everyone around.
It was interesting to hear Kear’s comments when he was asked about Ethan Ryan after the weekend’s game. He said that although SL teams may be interested players should look at how James Bentley has fared since he left. If you’re not going to be first choice then there’s a good chance you’ll be sent on loan and that’s not good for a young player’s development.
If I’m honest I think Ryan could probably get a first team spot on the wing at Cas. He’s easily as good as James Clare, probably better now. However I think longer term he can become a better player at fullback but I’m not so sure he’s SL material in that position..yet. In the end he’s still only 22 and could command an even bigger deal in a year or two. If he goes I wouldn’t be surprised.
If I was being ruthless I’s say we could probably replace the likes of Gibson, Magrin and Milton without any issue. None of them have really looked like they’re getting back in the side.
Josh Rickett would remain cheap and can do a job. DFJ has been solid, as has Grant but neither are likely to improve on what they’re already doing. I can see us keeping them on similar deals. As for Hallas and Flanagan we need backup for Wildie and I think we need three hookers at the club. Flanagan is knocking on a bit now and I’d use his money to keep Doyle and Hallas. Hallas is no hooker but he gives 100% and is versatile and has age on his side.
I’d definitely try and keep Ryan, Oakes, Evans, Lilley, Wildie, Green, Kirk, Bustin, Peltier and Wood.

Hopefully. Think he was a touch hard done to in the MOM voting in the cup against Leeds with his performance. Think Jordan sneaked it with the history between him and Leeds. I have seen people say they feel he could turn out to be a great ball playing 13, which may be true but I love seeing a big framed half back and im sure he will go on to be a superb player.
One of my best friends taught him at school and said he is a very attentative kid with an eagerness to learn. Cannot ask for more when he has the raw ability he has

| Quote: thepimp007 "Jury still out for me. I am very happy he has signed, but I feel he needs to show a bit more to become a very good 7. Yes he is still young at 22, but he needs to front the defensive line up more and engage the line more for me to be a threat.
Seems at times to be too lateral, whether thats him or lack of runners I don't know but when you have some good line runners like Minchella, Webster etc he needs to find them in space more engaging the line. Yes it was league one but the way Joe Keyes found Elliott time after time last year in the right space was brilliant and I really think he is a missing link for our attack this year. There is only 12 months between them and I feel Joe attacks sharper and straighter at the moment. I really hope we see him in a Bulls shirt again and he can shake the injury off
I would like to see Jordan move to hooker. He defends far above his weight and has a good rugby brain on him and feel he would be really effective there as we have seen before. I don't want this to come across as bagging because it isn't, just feel his attributes are more suited to 9.'"
I'd go along with almost all of that.

Update on Ethan Ryan.
Quote: "ETHAN Ryan is still considering whether to choose between the Bulls and Super League. The in-demand winger continues to weigh up his options for next season. Having announced Jordan Lilley’s capture for the next two years, John Kear’s side would love to nail down scoring sensation Ryan on a new deal. But there is plenty of Super League interest in Ryan, with Hull KR and Castleford rumoured to be among those keen to snap him up. There is an offer on the table from the Bulls but head coach John Kear admits it is a waiting game for the club.'"
