I agree with Bullseye, years ago we used to into the ground at 1.30pm and buy beer from the club. Nowadays we stop in the Top House until around 2.50pm and then walk across. One of the main reasons, is that the bitter in the ground is very poor and over priced. Bottled real ales will bring people in - if sold at the right price. If the club buys bottles at around £1.25/£1.40 and then sells at £2.50/£2.80, then its a win win for all concerned.

Btw, I went to one of the vans for two cans of coke and it was priced at £3.30 - no thanks.

Good on the Club for trying this, I hope it's a success for all involved.

If I recollect correctly, haven't the council have put up a screen at Odsal in the past?


To be fair, Odsal is very accessible from the city centre by bus as there are quite few routes which converge near the stadium, though I doubt there are quite as many actual buses as in years gone by. I must confess I've never really got into watching sport (even RL) in pubs as it's usually far too rowdy to watch the games. Better at home, where I know I'll be able to see it, hear it, not have to fight to get a drink [iand[/i be able to get to the toilet at half time....

I think they did it there a couple of world cups back because they started showing them in the City Centre but it just wasn't big enough to cope with how many people turned up, so they moved it to Odsal instead.

Interesting bit in t&a article about England game being shown at odsal. Quoted Damien Irvine as our commercial director. Did I miss him coming on board?. Was front man for one of failed bids iirc.

He's doing a bit of work as a consultant I think.
