And, to be fair I'd guess it's pretty much a costless exercise from the RFL's pov as they will surely be taking the 1.5% [or whatever] surcharge off before handing the money over. Maybe even adding .5% on for their 'handling charge'?

Why not? It's the RFL. Nothing is impossible. They are paying the wages of players at other clubs aren't they? They do what they like.
