| Quote Maccbull_BigBullyBooaza="Maccbull_BigBullyBooaza"Why won't RFL include the leasehold then?
My source is very real. Yesterday he was watching some Americans or something he's involved with play Brighouse Rangers. I met him and his friend who used to have something to do with Leigh I think in the wyke lion after.
Anyway he told me that due to some quirk in the rules if the Bulls fold Hull KR would still have to kick off at summer bash to be awarded the points. Like when Scotland played Estonia or whatever it was in that World Cup qualifier. Imagine it a half full stadium of KR fans watch one team come out on the pitch. The hooter goes - they kick off and the ball is not brought back. Under RL rules, however, they have to keep playing until someone scores a point. KR regather, kick the goal and they are awarded a 1-0 win. Unless they kick it out then there isn't anyone to tap it on the 20metre line and they'll be there all night.
Imagine the coverage in the press, tv news might actually mention the sport, you tube hits, tweets etc etc. The sport desperately needs a boost in this area and Nigel knows it. There can only be one explanation!'"
Why would we risk a drop goal?

| Quote vekder="vekder":342b8znyWhy would we risk a drop goal?'" , maybe even a hefty fine to go with it, but they'll surely want the club to play on in some guise to pay their rent. Their big problem is that if they demote us to champ 1, then that pretty much rules out us out of playing at Odsal due to the inevitable loss of players and subsequently fans, and of course, the cost. If we're demoted, then Horsfall with Avenue is a more likely venue, and more importantly a ground where we may even scrape through a season without going bust again.

| There is a good point made in there somewhere, I had not even considered the consequences of us being dropped from the championship. Who would take our place? With 2 months to go before the start of the season, would that even be possible?

I did read somewhere that Whitehaven had been given the nod that their relegation last year might not be enacted if we failed to make the starting gate. Don't know the veracity of that, of course...though I'm sure someone will...

Didn't miss the point at all. If there was an open field, you'd go for the try. No passing, no kicking, just to be on the safe side. But you asking why you'd risk a drop goal, and the response was rather amusing.

That was the common assumption, but it was mentioned somewhere in the last day or two (might have been in the T&A Opinion piece yesterday) that Whitehaven have heard nothing about that possibility.
The option of just giving a bye to every team due to play us isn't one that's possible because of the Summer Bash. I would think they would have to promote a team into our place, and then the Championship 1 teams due to play that side would instead get a bye that week (since they have no stupid and unfair "extra" fixture thrown in). Whitehaven would be the most logical team as the highest placing team overall from last season, currently in Champ 1. If they promoted any other team instead, it would show favouritism.

| It would be just the sort of logic the RFL are good at to relegate us not thinking of the effect it might have on the lease in terms of rent and sustainability. So I fully expect that to happen.
