Quote: Bull Mania "But what about Leigh the week before that?
This is my main gripe that we go on about being at a disadvantage come the middle 8s as we don't have enough competitive games. Yet the two competitive games we have been in we've come up short and seemingly had no idea how to win either. Leigh we deserved nothing out of and as I said Batley we had no game management.
Then Lowes in his interview is talking about how we only need to finish in the top 4. So it's not even top 2 to get that extra home game!! If he thinks we can get promoted with 3 home games he's deluded. Still think us having to go to Belle Vie twice last year cost us promotion.'"
It's impossible to know just what Jimmy actually believes as he's clearly constrained in what he can say. Constrained by both RFL rules, and the obvious point that somethings just [ican't[/i be said if you want fans to turn up and pay their money each week.
I'm sure Jimmy would be pulled over the coals if he said, for instance, that the whole early season is pretty pointless for the pro clubs since they are, before a ball is even kicked in anger, as sure as can be, going to be in the top four and so into the play-offs. This is just about guaranteed by the difference in finances between the pro sides and the semi pros.
He might well, also feel that the eights are a con and unlikely to result in a team being promoted [they're certainly a joke, when they allow a team which finished bottom of its division by a country mile, to celebrate as though they had just won the grand final]. He can't say anything along such lines [assuming that is what he believed] since he'd be fired and probably banned by the RFL for not taking the company line.
