Funny that Roger, Almost every Leigh fan on here also has said the best team won, myself included, but we didn't see the thuggish tactics (By us) that you saw.
Hope you all had a good time (apart from the result) and a safe journey back over the hill.

| Quote LeythIg="LeythIg"While there was a few bits from leigh players that I think we can do without (rubbing it in after a mistake etc...) can't really say we were thuggish and claim all bulls players were angels. It was a Bradford player that threw first punch for the double sin bin, and the late challenge on Barlow could've been a red. The last sin bin was sheer stupidity.
Can't really comment on the Purtell try, was at the other end, but I was relieved! But there were 2 or 3 professional fouls from Bradford that went unpunished as well.
Overall, Bradford only have themselves to blame. Can't lose from a 20-6 lead and have any excuses.'"
No arguments for that last bit.
We clearly need to learn to handle teams getting in our faces. Better team won today, but really looking forward to round 2 at odsal.

| Firstly, I must say that I had a terrific afternoon out - great stadium, great atmosphere and a terrific game.
Leigh just about shaded it over the 80 minutes, and well deserved victory. Once we gel and get some key players back then I would back us to beat Leigh any day of the week - I don't think they are as good as some of their fans think, and they'll get a rude awakening in SL if they make it next season and don't strengthen. But, as I say, served win on the day - well done to Leigh.
Having said that, some absolutely howlers by the official
1. Purtell try at a key point - would have made it 26-6 and the momentum is with us into the 2nd half
2. The so-called high shot in the in-goal area. A harsh sin-bin and Leigh break upfield and score
3. The last try - as a clear a knock on as you'll ever see , inexplicably not seen and leads to the killer try (game probably gone by then to be fair)
It's a poor indictment of the RFL that they have so few full-time referees that they have this Leigh fan refereeing what was 1000% BOUND to be a feisty and spicy occasion - big crowd, fired up teams etc. Really needed a more experienced official!
For us I thought Sidlow was immense - but he can't be doing so many minutes every week (did he do the full 80? If not he must have done close to it). If he keeps that up he'll be shot by the time the Middle 8's come around.
Clough - very solid.
Walshaw - runs direct and will do well
Seijka - someone needs to impress on him that we need him on the field for 80 minutes, not 60.
Walker at Centre? WHY??? WE had Ulugia and Henry... two specialist centres in the 19. So WHY? Let's hope Blythe or Baille get a shot, because it doesn't seem like the other two are ahead of Chev in the pecking order

| Yeah, not ideal, and a bit of a weird game. The first half looked like a Super League side playing a Championship side, with some appalling decision making from Leigh. The second half was entirely the other way around, and I have no idea what happened to Bradford's composure. The refereeing gave the game a slightly unreal feeling, but that's not to detract from Leigh's superior performance in the second half.
On a side note, the opinion of a person who proudly lives in a tax haven but has a signature featuring a line from a song about being working class is questionable at best. You might get away with that sort of nonsense around the great unwashed of Keighley, but you're dealing with educated Bradfordian urbanites now. And Bullseye.

Addy and Olbison went off and neither came back on. Addys torn his hamstring.
I wouldn't back us to beat Leigh everyday of the week, but I would be more confident of victory after learning this harsh lesson, improved discipline (be interesting to see a game between us of 13 v 13), not being down to two subs and having Ferguson, Blythe, Davies, Lauaki, in the team.
Having said all that I've no doubt Leigh will improve as well.
The return fixture should be a cracker.
Last point, we need to work hard on our goal kicking!!

| Very entertaining first game and a great opener. I'm never one to complain about blood n thunder and nowt wrong with a good hard fiery encounter. I am worried that Siejka looks on first outing not to be much good and a liability if his cretinous ill-discipline is anything to judge by, I'm worried that we have started the season without a kicker (I reckon if we'd kicked out goals then we probably would have held out) and while I like Mullaney and he has ability, those expressing doubts about whether he's a FB seem to have had a point. Still, Leigh deserved the win, and at the same time we were clearly the classier team, credit to them for finding a way to cancel that out. We should be kicking ourselves for losing from a winning position but if I get my annoyance about that and Siejka out of my head, then all things considered it was a pretty encouraging first effort. We'll improve.

| I feel if we played this game in a months time the result would have been different. Looked good but ran out of steam and got a wake up call on how to act/play at this level.
Fair play to Leigh, good win for them. But I do think their fans think they're better than they are.
The ref was S***e but not the full reason we lost.
Sadly I think all the refs are going to be very poor, even worse than this guy and we will be wishing for Hicks and Roby every week.
There was to be a reason the super league are struggling for them.

I think you'd have to search very hard on our forums to find ANYONE who said that. In fact, quite the opposite.

Terry I do it every game win or loose. It's the way I have been brought up. I would applaud a game like that every dy of the week. Both sets of players were shot when they came off.
