In Keighley's case it so happened they won 12 games which was the same as Whitehaven and Batley (after restoration of the 3 deducted points) but the 1 draw was the difference. It's a great shame that a team that suffered the loss of it's player coach for a month, courtesy of the judiciary panel at the RFL, at probably a critical time in the season is being placed in the near amateur ranks of a lower division. Let's hope they can survive it all? Like you I believe a petition will be a waste of time, as they unfortunately could not say that Batley would have replaced them as relegated, if the status had remained, ie that a point deduction hadn't been made in the first instance. Keighley would still be a point adrift due to the fact Batley had drawn a game which Keighley hadn't. Harsh isn't the word for the farcical situation the RFL have created for the whole game.'"
