| So...we now have promotion/relegation, without much chance of a team from the championship actually being promoted, good old RFL!!

| Quote pie.warrior="pie.warrior"wonder how many SL sides who look like being in positions 9-12 not spending full cap during 23 game main season and saving some room to get some top players in on a short term end of season contract to enhance their chances of finishing well in the 7 game mini-league. Might be a few players from NRL reserves fancy a well paid short holiday...?????'"
But surely the RFL, being the open, honest, well run and trustworthy governing body would implement a transfer window preventing such blatantly unfair and underhanded tactics?

| I wouldn't even dream about promotion for at least 5 years if I were a Bulls fan, plenty of time to get to grips with the format. It was vital to stay in SL this season; full-time staff or part-time staff it means nothing. The gulf is just wider now, it's good that the RFL are dangling the carrot though, keeps a few clubs dreams alive.

| Quote Duckman="Duckman"It is a tough ask, but tbf, if it was this season the middle 8 would be;
Wakefield
Hull
Bradford
London
Leigh
Featherstone
Halifax
Doncaster
Assume on league form and placings that Wakey and Hull come first and second in the middle 8 and Fev,fax and Doncaster come in the bottom 3. But, would you bet against Leigh beating the Bulls or London to either position 3 or winning the final?? We have a bigger cap this season but circumstances have dictated that Leigh would be favourites over both the Bulls and London. Who's to say other faults wont also send at least one of next years super league teams into the middle 8 playoffs in a bad state?
Its not a great chance, but I'd say its a very realistic opportunity for 1 or 2 really well run championship clubs, who will hit the middle 8 playoffs full of confidence and looking for promotion rather than the bottom super league clubs that will be lower on confidence and trying to avoid relegation (I think thats a significant attitude difference) If Leigh were to be 5th in my fictional middle 8 above I'd give them a good chance against any of them 4 super league clubs in a one off final at the mo, although in that 8 in the current state Leigh would be 3rd and we'd (hopefully) be playing London or fev or fax in the final.'"
Actually it would be more like:
Hull KR
Salford
Wakefield
Hull
Bulls
London
Leigh
Fev

| I expect Wakey, KR and Widnes to be three of the teams. Can't decide on the 4th. Anyone who watched the widnes V Wakey and Cats V Wakey must have seen how awful those games were. A confident championship team has a chance. Don't forget the top two teams in the championship also get 4 home games from the seven. Odsal would get big crowds to watch us play Wakey, KR and say Widnes + one other.
What do people think the points will be for say 3rd -auto promotion spot - out of a possible 14 points. I am guessing 8 points. Four wins = 3 championship teams + Wakey or KR or Widnes. That sounds possible to me.
We may as well pack it in now if people don't think we have a chance against the bottom SL clubs. Wakey are already signing average players for next year.

Er, it wasn't. Would've been nice but 2 are down. Not "vital" at all. Nobody died and we crack on in the lower league.

| Quote Bull Mania="Bull Mania"Ok......
You have SL, Championship, Championship 1.
Each team in each league plays each other twice, plus an extra game.
After 23 rounds the top 8 from SL go through h to a round robin/play-off series keeping the points they have accumulated over the 23 rounds.
The bottom 4 of SL and top 4 of championship split and go into their own league starting on zero points.
They play each other once, the top 3 automatically promoted and 4/5th have a grand final to go into SL.
Try explaining that to new fans!'"
And while your at it try explaining it to professional rugby league journalists as they don't understand it either. Om radio leeds rugby league panel tonight they repeatedly said to get promoted we would need to beat the four lowest SL clubs. Think their under misapprehension that to be promoted you HAVE to come top of the 8 team mini league and don't grasp you can come 5th and still go up by winning 4th v 5th playoff. If journalists who cover RL regularly like james deighton don't understand it yet then theirs not much hope for more casual fans.
