Until the squad is finalised this seems like a bit of a guessing game, so forgetting specific names which positions still need to be strengthened? For my money at full back and on the wing we have sufficient quality and numbers but we are still short at centre, Purtell doesn't do enough for me and Blythe is more of a second rower. In the halves I think Gaskell will be a very strong signing to put pressure on Gale and Sammut and there is always Addy to cover. At hooker we are if anything too strong as I think O'Brien may get slightly fed up of being 3rd choice but hopefully he gets an oppurtunity to step up. At prop I think we need one more in addition to Evans, we were very lucky that Nas and Scruton stayed injury free for the majority of the season, although I am hoping Carvell shows the same consistency he has for Warrington all season. Our second row is for me our strongest area with Bateman, Addy, Olbison, Walker, Blythe and Donaldson, if you add into that the aggression and strong running of Ferguson I think we will have a very competitive pack.

So that sums it up for me, one specialist centre, a utility back (to cover centre primarily) and another prop to cover injuries. Would love to get other people's feedback as to what they think our squad is looking like for next year.

Rumours going around that Curtis Naughton is on his way to Oz. Looked a decent prospect!

What is the point in even having an academy system anymore. He's played ONE game for the first team and he's already had his head turned by a scenario that we have absolutely no chance in competing with.
Seriously, it's sh*t like this that just makes me want to pack in watching the sport completely.

It's not that shocking, after all what young English player wouldn't jump at the chance for a move to the NRL? It wouldn't surprise me if there's a lot of SL players with a release clause in their contract should an NRL club want them.

It's a sad state of affairs that we can't hold on to the best and brightest in this country, but that's the nature of the beast.

He put the exact same thing end of last season too.

There's a good chance that it's his brother on the wind up.

Having said that, who'd blame him if he did get the chance?

From what I've heard its a family driven move as opposed to him being approached by any NRL club. He looks a great prospect and I'm sure we'll put something in place if he does return to the UK that we get first refusal.

Hopefully somebody with sense would put something like that in any agreement. At least we got 75k for big Sammy, great deal that was considering little Sammy has just gone for half a million.

The squad page says he's contracted until 2015 so that should be the end of the matter.
