Of course it's early in the season and it's still all to play for, but sitting in third with a positive PD is a bloody good start for the Bulls when you look at the past 6 years or so.

Sure we screwed up tonight and the lads will know this. Sitting in third losing 2 games out of six is a sign of what we could achieve. (Well I guess it's a sign of what we have achieved so far) I wasn't sure we would even make the play-offs in the closed season and that could still happen, but here we are in a much more exciting position than we have been in years.

I'm not kidding myself that we are going to turn into a top 5 R/L club over night, but hey it's a promising start, right?

Part of the problem is reading the rules as the team having "nothing to lose" by pushing the pass to try and score.

They do have something to lose as there is the option of not pushing the pass, taking the tackle and getting the play the ball where they ended up and not back at the original knock on.

What they aren't risking is losing possession but as a couple of examples from last night show they are certainly gambling with field position.

I think it means they should be making different decisions depending on where the original offense was. On your line, well get as far up the field as you can without risking too much. On halfway then go for it.

EG. Bradford got to the widnes 10m and had 3 player overlap, quick PTB and we where in and that was game set match, but instead we tried to fanny about with it and then we knocked on.

Also really glad we played Hudds last week instead of this we would have been mullered i recon.

Seems to be a continuing problem we have when we lose a player to injury during a match. We don't cope well when we have to reshuffle Mid match. Sounds like it was a problem last night and was an issue in hull game too. Certainly something we need to look at in training.

I must admit I wasn't at all confident when we decided to go for 2 when we were awarded a penalty on 58 mins. We had barely touched the ball in their half at that point. If I had been a Widnes player it would have spurred me on even more that the opposition weren't confident despite the man advantage. At the time I hoped the 8 point advantage would settle us down and relieve enough pressure to get back to what we were doing in the 1st half, unfortunately that wasn't the case and the errors continued. Time to move on, I just hope that we don't look back at this result in Sept and realise it was a costly slip up!

Plenty of points up for grabs though, let's hope with Gale back we have somebody who will steady the ship a little.
