Quote Bullboy="Bullboy"You dont have to share my convictions but (and I don't know if you recall) the two of us have played on the same team and have shared a few beers. If you do remember me I would hope you would recognise that my moral compasss does not align provident with Jimmy Seville. My point was "where do you draw the line" and the use of an extreme gives the reader the opportunity to decide how close to that extreme they would accept.
Today I own my own consultancy and so I am lucky enough to not need to use such services, but there was a time when I was on the breadline with my (then) girlfriend being the main bread winner on just £3.55 an hour and I had to buy a cooker from Bright House and pay for it with pay slips from my employer. I and you are intelligent enough to use such services to get by but you can't pretend that they don't make their money from the less fortunate and (I'll say it again) the more vulnerable members of society.
Watch "the revolution will not be televised" and see a guy who's borrowing money "to pay his dealer" get a lone from the money shop. Watch panorama and see (perhaps an isolated example of) an agent talk about keeping people in debt so that she gets her bonus. I personally find it uncomfortable viewing.
Incidentally, during those poorer times, a member of the old bulls forum offered to give me £100 to help me out of a really difficult position ( a neighbouring pill head had tried to kick the door of my flat in.) I'm embarrassed to admit I can't remember their username. Last year a friend of mine got himself into trouble with A payday lending company who had reached the stage of charging him £100 a month in interest which he would never have been able to clear. I lent him £800 to pay them off and stop him getting into an endless spiral of debt. If we all helped eachother out to the best of our abilities, the companies who advertise during Jeremy Kyle would be out of business pretty quickly'"
Yeah, I do pal... just put it down to a bad day at work. I ranted without even looking at the name
That said, I still believe there is still a place for these kind of companies. It shouldn't stop those who can control their borrowing and spending just cos some can't.
Then again, if the banks hadn't f**ked everything up there may have been no need for theseloans in the first place.
Sorry again for the rant
